Who are you ?? 🥲

When I first arrived in NZ, I was the clueless one, people would ask me something and I’d answer with something completely different!

But here’s the good news: I’m here to teach you how to actually speak French. And I’m not exaggerating when I say my students now hold real conversations in French 🙌🏽

Keep following that space and be ready for your next French adventure with me 🇫🇷 🚀

“Je suis malade” is a great one to know. Another useful phrase is “J’ai mal …” followed by the body part that hurts.

In French, though, we don’t phrase it the same way as in English. For example, instead of saying:

MY HEAD HURTS
👉 Ma tête me fait mal (also correct, but less common)

We usually say:

I HAVE PAIN IN MY HEAD
👉 J’ai mal à la tête

Same same but different.

Thanks winter, we love your lovely bugs. Being sick makes us stronger… let’s just say that!
Take care everyone 💛

A good way to remember how to say your age in French : you are not a number, you HAVE a number 😭🫠
J’ai 33 ans
Tu as 50 ans
Il a 24 ans
Elle a 6 ans
On a 63 ans
Nous avons 27 ans
Vous avez 18 ans
Ils ont 99 ans
Elles ont 82 ans

👆🏽Do you know these numbers in French ?? 🤔

TIPS ▶️ The exact translation from English it’s : “Je suis âgée de 33 ans” and it is French-correct, however it is really uncommon to express your age this way.

In France, you don’t need a fancy venue or a big budget to start an apéro. Sur les bords de la Seine in Paris, you’ll find hundreds and hundreds of people gathered together, wild & free, chatting about their day, and trying to redo the world over a bottle of wine or a pack of beers. All you really need is a couple of drinks, some saucisson or chips, and great friends. Et voilà, magic happens.

C’est la belle vie !

This Thursday, we’re bringing that same spirit to Auckland for our very first French Apéro! 🥂
Follow and join us at the bar.

📍Portland Public House - Kingsland
⏱️From 6.30 pm till late

🫠 French grammar really said: “Let’s confuse everyone… just for fun.”

When they can’t find what’s right in front of them, even with the best explanation in the world, you can say this 💁‍♀️

Or when your best friend falls (again) for the wrong guy, and it’s so obvious he’s not the one:
👉🏼 “Babe, t’as de la m***e dans les yeux, c’est un co***rd, ça se voit à 2 km.”
👉🏼 “Babe, you have s*t in your eyes, he’s a jerk, you can see it from 2 miles away.”

French honesty at its finest 🇫🇷

Save this one, you’ll definitely use it 😏

Did you know that “m***e” in French doesn’t just mean… well, “sh*t”? 💩

Yes, literally it’s a curse word, but in everyday French, it also means “good luck”! 🎯
It’s especially used before something important, like an exam, a job interview, or even a performance, kind of like saying “break a leg” in English.

So if someone says “m***e” to you before your big moment, take it as encouragement, but whatever you do… 👉 don’t say “merci” back!
That’s the rule, if you thank the person, it cancels the good luck and sends it back like a boomerang! 🚫🎭

So: just smile, nod, or say nothing… and keep the good vibes coming your way. 😌💫
M***e à vous tous for anything important you’ve got going on today! 🇫🇷
