We are Run, Shosanna Productions, a growing film and video production collective based in Auckland, New Zealand. We dare to say: style is substance in itself.

Our aim is to create fiction and documentary content that tackle complex characters, situations and states of mind. This was in the original vision of young filmmakers Gorjan Markovski and Christienne Jauregui when they formed the collective back in 2012, during their undergraduate study. Our story-telling approach is bold visually and aurally. Style is what classic narratives and genres are made

Our member Jakob reviews Mandy. He gave it a fat 'F' grade. He says: "Similarly to 2017's The Neon Demon, a majority of this film felt like long winded exposition to a bad p***o. There were certainly many moments in which it seemed characters were about to fornicate - but thankfully they didn't! Every performance in this movie feels like a terrible attempt to get the 'outstanding villain performance' nomination but tragically no one comes close. The best points in this movie are when its obviously not taking itself too seriously but unfortunately these moments are few and far between. My biggest draw going into this film was the score by the late great Johan Johansson but sadly this was maybe his worst work."

Our member Christienne reviews LITTLE WOODS (dir. Nia DaCosta) at the New Zealand International Film Festival: "It's not as gritty as social dramas usually go, but with Lily James shattering expectations of her pretty dreamgirl screen persona and Tessa Thompson showcasing her flair in subtlety, the film successfully demands viewer empathy for its characters and the very real, bleak America they live in. [A]"

Our member Gorjan gives TRANSIT (dir. Christian Petzold) an 'A' grade after viewing it at the New Zealand International Film Festival: "Setting the 1940s fascist occupation in Marseille, France to modern day not only gives this film the stylish high-stakes flair of silver screen thrillers, but it also makes the drama startlingly confrontational with the present."

Our member Gorjan reviews PIERCING (dir. Nicolas Pesce) from the : "An icky yet stylish exercise in making an audience squirm. Not as sharp as it thinks it is whenever it attempts to build character or meaningful narrative [B-]" More NZIFF reviews coming up on: https://www.instagram.com/markovskigorjan/

Our member Gorjan reviews DISOBEDIENCE (dir. Sebastián Lelio) playing in this year's New Zealand International Film Festival: "The chemistry of the three compelling leads and a screenplay committed to fleshing out their stories keep you hooked even when the feel-good lgbt film tropes start to peek through [B+]"

Does Having a Day Job Mean Making Better Art? 22/07/2018

Great article to read whenever you beat yourself up for not being able to work as a filmmaker/writer/artist full time because you gotta hustle 💪💰

Does Having a Day Job Mean Making Better Art? A full-time gig is antithetical to creative pursuits — or so we’ve been taught to believe. The truth, though, is that artists have always had other professions.

Cannes Film Review: ‘Birds of Passage’ 20/07/2018

Last night's film BIRDS OF PASSAGE was a stunning opening to the 50th year of New Zealand International Film Festival! Put this in your watchlist if you want to be immersed in a surreal drug-cartel family drama set within the Wayuu community in Colombia

Cannes Film Review: ‘Birds of Passage’ These days, with “Narcos” on Netflix and “Loving Pablo” in theaters, South American drug stories are a dime a dozen — or, maybe, 10 bucks a bag — but you’ve never seen one like “Birds of Passage,” …
