English language entry requirements for international students - NZQA 18/04/2026

🤗Apart from IELTS or PTE, many universities and institutes in New Zealand also accept other English proficiency certificates! ✅
Options like TOEFL, Cambridge English (CAE/CPE), OET (for health courses), CELTA,… are accepted by several institutions.
Always check the specific entry requirements on the university or institute’s official website, as acceptance can vary by program and level of study.

Quick stop at Pak’nSave supermarket today & feeling it… winter is coming in NZ 🥶❄️
Little tip for international students: go for fruits & veggies that are in season 🍎🥦
They’re usually on special, cheaper, and still super fresh.
Winter doesn’t have to be expensive if you shop smart 😉 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓🤑

🌟 Top 2 Benefits of starting your study in New Zealand in July

Many international students are now considering the July intake - here’s a quick summary to help you decide
1. Lower competition compared to February intake
Feb (Semester 1) is the main intake in New Zealand, so applications are much higher → more competition for accommodation and popular programmes.
👉 Jul intake usually has fewer applicants, giving you a smoother start!

2. Better timing for job opportunities after graduation (for 1.5-year programmes)
If you take a 1.5-year course, you’ll likely graduate in summer 🎉
👉 This is peak hiring season in NZ, with more full-time job opportunities available.

*Notes about the July intake:
Not all programmes are available (especially some engineering or specialised courses may only open in February intake).
July is winter in New Zealand ❄️ Make sure you prepare warm clothes before arriving- winters here can feel colder than expected!
