👑🎶 “God Save the King” is one of the world’s oldest national anthems and is traditionally performed during royal celebrations across the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries. 🇬🇧✨
🇳🇿 Fun fact: New Zealand is the only Commonwealth country with two official national anthems — “God Save the King” and “God Defend New Zealand,” which is sung in both Māori and English, celebrating the country’s rich culture and identity. 💛🎵
This King’s Birthday Weekend, let music fill your home, your heart, and your celebrations. Whether you’re listening to your favorite songs, practicing your instrument, or sharing music with loved ones — every melody makes the moment more special. 🎹🎸🥁
📌 Friendly Reminder:
There will be no classes on King’s Birthday Monday due to the public holiday. However, we encourage all our students to continue practicing at home and keep the music going! 🎼✨
Wishing everyone a joyful and music-filled King’s Birthday Weekend! 👑🎵✨

🎹 Meet Dondre, one of our wonderful piano students!
We absolutely love being part of the beginning of Dondre’s musical journey. From piano to guitar, drums, and recorder, he truly enjoys exploring the world of music and discovering new sounds every step of the way. 🎶✨
What makes his journey even more special is the incredible support he receives from his family, who encourage him every day and proudly celebrate each achievement from the audience. Their love and encouragement help him continue growing with confidence and joy. 💛
Music is not only helping Dondre develop new skills, but also giving him a space to express himself, stay creative, and enjoy learning in so many different ways.
Thank you, Dondre and family, for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful chapter in your lives. Watching young musicians grow through music is one of the greatest gifts for our community. 🌟🎵

Today we celebrate Pink Shirt Day — a special day across New Zealand that encourages kindness, inclusion, respect, and standing together against bullying.
🩷 At Music Education, we proudly support this message by continuing to build, every day, a welcoming community where everyone feels safe, included, appreciated, and respected — no matter their age, abilities, religion, or cultural background. 💗
🎶 We believe music is more than learning notes and songs. Music creates connection, confidence, friendship, and a safe space where every student can feel seen, heard, and supported. 🎹🎸🥁🎤 Through music, teamwork, and creativity, we continue building a community where everyone belongs. 💗🎶
Being a music mum is more than just being present — it’s believing, supporting, motivating, and making the impossible possible so their children can grow, shine, and express themselves through music 🎶
Today, we honour the incredible mums who give so much of themselves to support their children’s dreams through music. The extra energy they somehow find after long days, the endless encouragement, the rides to lessons and rehearsals, the sacrifices hidden inside busy schedules, and the unconditional love behind every small achievement.
Thank you for every hug before a performance, every word of encouragement after practice, and every moment spent helping your children become more confident, creative, and happy human beings.
Today, we celebrate your love, your dedication, your strength, and the beautiful impact you make every day.
Happy Mother’s Day to all our amazing musical mums 🌷✨

❄️🎶 When song becomes visible.
On cold mornings, it’s not just humans whose breath condenses in the air — birds too leave a trace of their voice.
As a bird sings into the chilly air, the warm, moist breath it exhales condenses into mist, forming delicate trails that follow the rhythm of its song.
In these stunning images by Kathrin Swoboda, we see a red-winged blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus) mid-song, with its visible breath dancing in sync with the sound waves it creates.
For a brief moment, physics and biology meet, and the invisible becomes beautifully visible. ✨

On ANZAC Day, we don’t only remember silence… we remember humanity.
This historical footage shows Māori soldiers from New Zealand sharing music and cultural expression with allied troops during wartime.
It reflects a powerful part of ANZAC history — where identity, spirit, and connection remained alive even in times of conflict.
ANZAC Day is a time to honour those who served and sacrificed in war. But it is also a reminder that behind every uniform, there were people — with culture, families, and stories.
Moments like this show unity beyond borders.
We remember them. We honour them. We carry their legacy forward. 🌺🎺

🎶✨ The most covered song in history
Did you know that “Yesterday” by The Beatles has over 2,200 officially recorded versions?
From jazz and opera to reggae and rock, this timeless ballad has been reimagined by artists around the globe:
🎤 Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra… and the list keeps growing.
Written by Paul McCartney, the melody famously came to him in a dream. He even called it “Scrambled Eggs” at first — until the final lyrics came together.
Over 7 million radio plays in the U.S. alone.
More than 2,000 artists have made it their own.
One song… that the world hasn’t stopped singing since 1965. 🎻🎤
Happy Easter… let’s play Hot Cross Buns, not just eat them 🎹✨
Did you know this fun little tune is one of the best songs for children starting piano?
🎵 It’s simple (just a few notes to begin!)
🎵 Repetitive patterns help build memory
🎵 A clear rhythm makes timing easier
🎵 Great for developing coordination
🎵 Children can play a full song quickly = instant confidence 💪
And here’s a fun fact 👇
Hot Cross Buns started as a street song in England — vendors would sing it to sell their buns!
“Hot cross buns! One a penny, two a penny…”
Basically… one of the first musical ads ever 😄
Today in NZ, they’ve become a seasonal favourite around Easter — warm, sweet, and everywhere 🛒
So this season, let’s do both:
🥐 Enjoy them
🎹 And learn to play them
This Sunday, something grew within our students 💫 their confidence rose, and that fills us with pride 💛
We experienced our first Performance Afternoon of the year, closing Term 1 🎶
It may look easy from the outside, but it is not. Behind every song, simple or challenging, there are fears that had to be faced and overcome just to step onto the stage 🙌
That is what makes these moments so special ✨
The dedication of our students, the commitment of their parents, and the motivation of our teachers all come together to make growth possible 🌱
In this first performance, we already see their progress 👏
And with each term, we will continue to witness even more growth in confidence, skills, and emotional development 💥
Watching them grow and being part of their journey is truly inspiring ❤️
Thank you to our parents, teachers, and especially our students for making this moment possible 🙏
We close Term 1 with full hearts and look forward to seeing even more students shine in Term 2 ⭐
🎬 Performance Afternoon — End of Term 1
Our first celebration of the year
More than a performance…
A moment of confidence, growth, and pride 🎶
Our students have been working hard all term, and this Sunday they take the stage to share it with you.
Behind every performance, there’s dedication, family support, and a teacher who believes in them 💙
Come and feel the magic of our music community.
