What an awesome day for our Birkdale Intermediate team! We are incredibly proud of the way our girls competed, battled hard all day, and consistently showed outstanding sportsmanship. Finishing 9th out of 20 teams was a fantastic achievement, and we hope every player feels proud of what they accomplished.

A huge thank you as well to Mya from BC for helping coach and support the team throughout the day, we really appreciated your encouragement and guidance!

The girls tried ever so well all day in the sunny conditions. We came up against some really strong teams but our girls tried our best and put in so much effort throughout. We competed hard in all 8 matches and everyone was exhausted by the end of the day! Well done girls. You represented BIS amazingly well - Matua Lewis

We have a very enthusiastic enviro group going this year and have big plans for making our school more environmentally friendly.

To date we have been working on the noxious weeds around the school, with help from Pest Free Kaipātiki, and last month we collected so many moth plant pods that we won the Pod Patrol competition.

The prize was a pizza lunch, so here we all are enjoying the fruits of our labours, along with Angie Meuller and Ian Naguiat of Pest Free Kaipātiki.

Take a look at the photos below, they may be able to help you too if you find moth
plant on your property. One pod can have up to a thousand seeds so it’s important to eradicate it.
