🌺 Samoan Language Week Celebration 🌺
Today we came together for a wonderful assembly to celebrate Samoan Language Week and honour the rich culture, language, and traditions of Samoa.
A big thank you to Vaoita and Payton for confidently hosting the assembly. Mr Uili and Reiley shared their knowledge as they explained the significance of the dance item, helping us all gain a deeper understanding of Samoan culture.
Our Pasifika Young Leader girls performed a beautiful siva, showcasing grace, pride, and cultural heritage. Faira and Eva also taught us some relative phrases in both English and Samoan, giving everyone an opportunity to learn and participate.
Thank you to all our students and staff who celebrated by wearing cultural dress and helping make the day so special. It was wonderful to see our school community embracing and celebrating diversity together.
🇼🇸 Fa'afetai lava to everyone who contributed to this memorable celebration!

Year 7: Team 1 = 2nd, Team 2 = 3rd
Year 8: Team 1 = 2nd, Team 2 = 1st
Congratulations to the students involved! (Special thanks to Mr Coffey for his coaching and UOA for this great initiative!)

🥈🏆⚽️ Year 8 Girls' CZ Football ⚽️🏆🥈
Going into today's tournament, the MRI girls walked in as favourites and had everyone's eyes on them. The pressure was immense, and they 100% delivered.
After an early loss against a superb DIO team, the girls reset, winning the next three games, including a must-win game against ANI, to advance to the semis. Against a strong Remuera side, MRI prevailed 1-0 to advance to the finals to play DIO again. In a torrid match, the teams couldn't be separated at full time, and the match went to penalties, where ultimately MRI went down, losing 3-2, and coming second overall. To lose in the final via penalties after seven matches is a cruel way to go down, but the girls should be immensely proud of what they have achieved. They 100% backed up their result from last year, proving it was no fluke, and their reputation was fully justified.
A massive thank you to Miss Golding for all her work with our football and futsal teams, particularly with our Year 8 girls' squad, which has won back-to-back CZ Futsal titles, placed second in the Year 7 girls' Football Inter-zones last year, and then placed second today at CZs by the barest of margins. What an awesome performance by Miss Golding and this group of girls!

⚽️⚽️⚽️ Year 8 CZ Boys Football was held at Seddon Fields. Under the expert guidance of Tom Golding, our Year 8 boys put on an absolute performance today. Finishing second in their pool after some solid performances, the boys eventually lost in the semis, going down 1-0 to the eventual champions. Unfortunately, in the nail-biting 3rd/4th play-off match, the boys ended up losing by penalties. 4th in Central Auckland is an incredible achievement, well done, boys ⚽️⚽️⚽️

⚽️⚽️ Year 7 boys Central Zones football took place today, and our boys put on an impressive display. Unlucky not to finish higher, the boys placed a credible 6th place. The Year 8 boys have their turn on Thursday.
