Come and explore our little piece of paradise at Stanmore Bay Kindergarten 🌿✨
Our Stay & Play sessions are the perfect way for tamariki aged 2+ to discover, play, and become familiar with the kindergarten environment before starting. With inviting spaces, caring kaiako, and plenty of opportunities for fun and exploration, it’s a lovely way for whānau to connect and feel at home.

This week our kindergarten whānau came together for a memorable Planting Day. This was a special learning experience that reflects our commitment to the Ngā Rākau o te Ngākau – Tree’s of the Heart Project, the Enviroschools kaupapa, and the principles of Te Whāriki as we nurture a strong sense of kaitiakitanga (guardianship of our environment) in our tamariki.
This planting event was more than just putting plants in the ground — it is an opportunity for our children to:
Develop a sense of belonging (Mana Whenua) by contributing to their local environment
Engage in exploration (Mana Aotūroa) through hands-on, meaningful experiences
Strengthen relationships (Ngā Hononga) with the land and community
Grow their understanding of sustainability and environmental responsibility, key values within Enviroschools
Through this experience, our tamariki take an active role as kaitiaki, helping to restore and protect our local Ngahere/ bush within the Whenua Roa, D’Oyly Reserve in alignment with the initiative from Kaitiaki Kindergartens and as a way of giving thanks to Mountain to Sea, He Wai te Taonga – Whitebait Project, along with support from Restore Hibiscus and Bays which are both funded by the local Community Board. We are also grateful for the support and sponsorship from Bunnings Silverdale - and as always we could not have had the success we had in planting nearly 100 natives without the fabulous support from our whānau. Keep an eye out for the multitude of stakes with blue and green tips along the reserve so you too can see our handy work and keep track of their growth over time!
Let’s all make sure to nurture the tree’s in our community so they nurture us!

Charlotte has been a kaiako at Stanmore Bay Kindergarten for the past eight years, after spending many years as a new entrant primary school teacher. Her teaching superpowers are enthusiasm and encouragement.

Charlotte believes every child deserves to feel heard, seen, and significant. She values each child for who they are and where they come from, and works to create a learning environment where every child feels a strong sense of belonging.

She loves modelling the excitement of learning something new and helping children understand that learning is a journey to be enjoyed. Charlotte is passionate about providing a wide variety of resources and experiences that encourage children to explore the world around them and, in their own time, discover their interests and passions.

Above all, Charlotte loves learning alongside children and believes that fun, curiosity, and connection are at the heart of meaningful learning.

✨ The Power of Play in Everyday Moments ✨
When tamariki are given time to slow down, magic happens. Through play, they begin to carefully notice—the swirl of colours blending across a page, the shapes and forms emerging in their artwork, or the way sand feels heavy in one scoop and light in the next.
These moments aren’t just play—they’re rich opportunities for exploration, discovery, and deep thinking. Tamariki are building an understanding of the world as they experiment with texture, weight, movement, and creativity. 🎨🏖️
Guided by passionate, qualified kaiako, these experiences are nurtured with intention. Kaiako notice, respond, and extend learning in ways that support curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of discovery. 💡
Let’s celebrate the beauty of slowing down and the powerful learning that happens through play. 💛

The whānau at Stanmore Bay Kindergarten are joining the Pink Shirt Day movement along with many other Kiwi’s by sharing simple messages of kindness in te reo Māori that you too can send to a friend, family member or colleague to brighten their day. 💗

We are encouraging our tamariki to wear pink this Friday the 15th of May to help raise the awareness of the importance of kindness, inclusion, and standing together against bullying, a strong part of our kaupapa and philosophy.🌸
Remember, kindness has real impact — even a few encouraging words can make a difference. And what better way to share that kindness than through our beautiful reo.
Together we Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora
Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying! 🤝✨
Let’s continue to spread positivity, inclusion, and care — not just today, but every day.

🌟Celebrating 15 Years of Our Administrator & Support Kaimahi Extraordinaire! 🌟
Today we are shining a light on a very special member of our kindergarten whānau, who has been part of our team for an incredible 15 years 💐
With her fantabulous administrative skills and a wicked sense of humour, she is truly the heartbeat of our place. Whether she’s welcoming new whānau, finding a space for your tamaiti in our little piece of paradise, or seamlessly pivoting between admin mahi and supporting our kaiako and tamariki — she does it all with warmth and ease 💛
She has a magic way of making everyone feel at home. You’ll often find her sharing a laugh with tamariki as they enjoy their kai, helping to spark their own sense of humour and joy ✨
We are so grateful for her dedication, her kindness, and the aroha she brings to our kindergarten every single day.
Ngā mihi nui for 15 amazing years — we are so lucky to have you! 💖
