Week 6 at Gardner Road Kindergarten 🌿☀️
After the excitement of our Living Eggs programme, this week we settled back into our usual Kindergarten rhythms and made the most of the beautiful sunshine!
There has been plenty happening both indoors and out – bustling shops, sandpit construction and volcanoes, climbing, balancing and monkey bars, along with lots of fun on our swing bridge ropes, building strength, coordination, confidence and perseverance along the way.
Inside, we’ve been busy cooking vegetables from our garden, marble painting, exploring clay, creating beautiful dough gardens and making fresh playdough together. 🎨🌱
We also welcomed a new friend to our Kindergarten whānau this week. 💛
Only four weeks of Term 3 to go, and with spring officially beginning next week, we’re looking forward to more sunny days filled with learning, play and fun.
Ngā mihi nui from the Gardner Road Kindergarten team 🌸

What an incredible Week 3 at Gardner Road Kindergarten! 🦖☀️
The chilly, frosty mornings have given way to beautiful sunny winter days, perfect for learning and exploring outdoors.
Our highlight this week was welcoming the Auckland Museum Outreach Dinos team. The children were captivated by the hands-on experience, asking thoughtful questions and showing such enthusiasm throughout the session.
We were so proud to receive this wonderful feedback from the educators:
"The tamariki were so very polite, expressed wonderful enthusiasm and demonstrated just how prepared they were prior to our visit."
Experiences like these spark curiosity, encourage discovery, and bring learning to life. We can't wait for our next exciting visitor—Living Eggs—coming soon!

What a beautiful week we've had at Gardner Road Kindergarten! ☀️
The children have settled beautifully back into their kindergarten routines and have made the most of the crisp winter mornings and glorious sunshine. Outdoor play has been in full swing, with our firefighters racing to the rescue, imaginative campfire adventures in the sandpit, and some clever engineering as tunnels were created through the sand hills using cones.
We've also been lucky to enjoy visits from one of our local kererū, whose impressively round tummy suggests it's been finding plenty of delicious local kai! Along with the cheerful songs of our resident tūī, these special native birds are a wonderful part of everyday life at kindergarten.
Inside, the beauty salon has been buzzing with glamorous makeovers, while the activity table has been filled with creativity, producing lots of wonderful artwork to take home.
We hope you enjoy this week's snapshot and the many moments of learning, imagination and fun that make our days so special.
Ngā mihi nui and have a wonderful weekend with your whānau. 💚 Ka kite anō! 🌿

🎶 Music Week at Kindergarten! 🎶
What a fantastic week we've had celebrating all things music! A huge thank you to our talented parents and friends who shared their musical gifts with us – from singing and keyboard to guitar and flutes, the children loved every moment.

The children have been busy making their own instruments, enjoying jam sessions, and exploring different genres of music including jazz, rock, classical, and reggae. A special shout out to Logan, who amazed us by playing Ode to Joy and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star on the electronic keyboard – wow! ⭐🎹

Outside, the fun continued with a "live" volcano in the sandpit, fossil discoveries in our mini indoor sandpit, and plenty of dinosaur adventures in our science area, which has transformed into a dino-land of fun and exploration. 🦖🌋

It's been a week full of music, creativity, discovery, and smiles. We're ending this week on a high note and looking forward to the final two weeks of term! 🎵💕

📚 This week, our Kindergarten children became authors and illustrators as they created their very own storybooks! Through this exciting project, they built on their love of books and storytelling while strengthening their communication, creativity, early literacy, and fine motor skills.

The sunshine also brought plenty of outdoor adventures, from obstacle courses and sandpit play to pirate role play, hut building, and carpentry. Indoors, children enjoyed board games, story times, train track construction, bead threading, painting, and creative art experiences.

It has been another wonderful week filled with learning, imagination, discovery, and fun. We are so proud of our capable and enthusiastic learners! 🌟

Talofa lava!
This week we have been celebrating Samoan Language Week. The 2026 theme is:
"E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu'u" – "From the high mountains are the blessings of the village."
The children have enjoyed learning Samoan greetings and songs, as well as exploring traditional tapa patterns through colouring and painting with dye. It has been a wonderful opportunity to learn about and celebrate Samoan culture.
The weather has been mostly wet this week, which has meant plenty of indoor play and lots of children wishing, "Rain, rain, go away!" When we have managed to get outside, the sandpit has been a hive of activity, along with gardening, shop role play, and picnic adventures with friends.
Inside, the children have been busy building and creating with magnetic tiles and trains, while the activity table has been filled with hands-on craft experiences that have encouraged creativity and fine motor development.
Manuia le fa'ai'uga o le vaiaso! - (Have a wonderful weekend) 🥰
