Gumboots & Farm Friends Early Learning Centre

Gumboots & Farm Friends Early Learning Centre Gumboots: Where rural charm meets childhood wonder.

With nature as our playground, our outstanding kaiako (teachers) ignite curiosity and nurture young minds in our wide open playground set in the serene countryside between Waimauku and Helensville.

This is what childhood should look like. 🤎

A muddy puddle, a plank, a little bit of courage… and plenty of determination!

At Gumboots & Farm Friends, we want our children to have the freedom to explore, test themselves, take manageable risks and experience the outdoors in all its messy glory.

There’s so much learning happening in moments like this — balance, coordination, confidence, problem-solving and perseverance — but most importantly, there’s a whole lot of fun. 🌿🥾

We don’t wait for the mud to dry up… we put our gumboots on and get amongst it!

Rural children deserve a rural childhood. 🌿🥾

At Gumboots & Farm Friends, we believe childhood should be full of opportunities to get outside, get muddy, investigate, experiment and experience the natural world first-hand.

Our children don’t just learn about the world around them — they get right amongst it.

They jump in puddles and feel the mud squish beneath their gumboots. They crouch together to investigate what they have discovered in the grass and soil. On frosty winter mornings, they touch, hold and explore the ice and notice what happens as the day begins to warm.

They are also given opportunities to work with real tools, with the guidance and supervision of their teachers — developing concentration, coordination, confidence and an understanding of how things work.

We’re lucky to have the space to let childhood be a little wild, a little muddy and full of adventure. 💚

Because sometimes the very best learning comes with muddy knees, cold fingers and a huge smile.

Nothing beats the sound of pure joy on a sunny morning ☀️

These little legends turned our green slide into their own adventure zone — muddy feet, big laughs, and zero worries in the world.

At Gumboots & Farm Friends we believe childhood should be full of these moments: fresh air, real friendships, and the freedom to play hard (and get a bit dirty).

Because the best learning happens when kids are busy being kids.
Come and see the fun for yourself — we’d love to show you around.

Limited part-time spaces available — especially in our Babies Room 💚

Our beautiful Babies Room offers a calm, nurturing environment with a 1:3 teacher-to-child ratio and a maximum of just six babies. This allows our youngest tamariki to feel safe, settled and truly known.

We also have a small number of spaces available in our older rooms.

Our waitlist often grows quickly, so we recommend getting in touch early to arrange a tour and register your interest.

This is what childhood looks like here. 💙

It looks like muddy hands, sandy knees and gumboots filled with water.

It sounds like laughter from the trees, music made outdoors, excited conversations between friends and the splash of one more jump into the puddle.

It feels like belonging.

At Gumboots and Farm Friends, children are given the time, space and encouragement to explore their ideas, test their abilities, create, connect and simply enjoy being children.

Some days learning is loud, energetic and wonderfully messy. Other days it is found in a quiet book shared with a friend, a pinecone carefully examined, or a conversation unfolding beside the sandpit.

Behind every moment are teachers who notice, listen and gently extend each child’s curiosity—while creating a place where tamariki feel safe, known and confident enough to be themselves.

There is no single way to learn here.

There are just endless opportunities to wonder, discover, belong and grow. 🌿

At Gumboots Early Learning Centre we have been embracing the spirit of Matariki by coming together with our wonderful tamariki and whānau to plant herbs and vegetables in our beautiful, extensive gardens.

Matariki is a special time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and look ahead with hope for the future. Planting during Matariki honours the traditional Māori connection to the seasons, the whenua, and the cycles of growth. As we nurture our gardens, we're also nurturing patience, responsibility, teamwork, and a love for caring for our environment.

A huge thank you to all of our amazing whānau who joined us. Together we're planting more than just gardens—we're planting memories, connections, and hopes for the season ahead.

✨ Matariki mā Puanga – celebrating new beginnings, growth, and togetherness. ✨
