Colour Fun Run Date: Friday 24th April 2026


Get ready for a burst of colour, energy, and excitement... it is the Orakei School Colour Fun Run 2026!!!

Our students will be seeking online sponsorship for their efforts on Colour Fun Run Day to help raise funds for our school while taking part in one of the most fun and vibrant events on the school calendar.


All funds raised will go towards:

* Classroom resources to enable teachers to personalise their lesson plans and engage students.

* The Awhina fund - this fund is designed to ensure all our tauira have the essentials they need for school.

* Contributions towards teaching assistants, sport, technology and garden to table.


How do I sign my child up to fundraise online? Each child can sign up for their very own fundraising web page to send out to collect online sponsorship from anyone, anywhere!

Newsletter - Week 4 - Term 1

Newsletter We are now well into Term 1. It has been a busy and positive few weeks, with many opportunities for learning, establishing classroom routines and expectations, and for new staff to settle into our school.

Our kura's publication in Schoolnews underscores its commitment to excellence and providing students woth the best learing opportunities. We extend our pride to our tamariki, staff, and community.

Pop Up Market
Sunday 29 March | 10am–2pm

Intersection of Kepa Rd & Kupe Street (car park in front of the bakery / Evans Kebab / Mini Market)

There’ll be a range of local initiatives and organisations sharing what they do, including:
• Te Pourewa – community vegetable garden
• Selwyn Community Education – information about upskilling and joining their 8,000-strong community
• Ōrākei Community Association Inc. – updates on what’s happening locally
• Orakei School – details on recent school upgrades and facilities
• Digital Seniors Auckland – supporting people to build confidence with technology
• And anyone else who is keen to get involved!

We’ll have live music, children’s entertainment, and a few treats for locals to take home.

A special morning at Ōrākei School, we invited our Korean whānau to a farewell assembly attended by senior classes, who showcased our school values and delivered outstanding speeches, notably Nate and Bryn, setting the tone for an emotional farewell, celebrating great memories and friendships. ❤️

A wonderful pōwhiri marked the beginning of the year, warmly welcoming new teachers, students, and families, with a selection of pictures showcasing the occasion.

The school is looking great with its new garden mural, freshly painted school blocks and tidy entrance, receiving positive feedback from the community.

The Moth Busters 2024 from Ōrākei School won several awards at this event.

Doubling down on the environment in Ōrākei Both the Moth Plant Prizegiving and the Enviro Forum took place in May, educating and celebrating local environmentalists .

The Brick Show is on until 3pm. $7 entry, $2 each sausage sizzle, face painting, bake sale and bouncy castle. Raffle $2each or 6 tickets for $10.
