On Thursday June 11, One Tree Hill College students performed at ShowQuest 2026.

This year, our dance presentation was titled Te Wairua Over Technology
The rise of AI brought many people trying to profit off its knowledge. In the urge to create art at the click of a button, humanity gets left behind.
In this story, an AI closely studies the students pursuing dance in an attempt to recreate Te Wairua - which is the unity of human’s spirit, emotions, and culture.
Will the students choose Te Wairua or technology?

Led by Student Captains, Joelantah Asela and Sydney Powell, students presented dances ranging from several dance styles reflecting and celebrating some from the many diverse cultures at One Tree Hill College. These were Hip Hop, Semi classical- Bharatnatyam, Hawaiian Kumu Hula, Singkil from the Philippines, Jazz, Contemporary and a finale live singing with "Know who you are" from Moana by Pauline Halatoafa depicting that students definitely chose Te Wairua with the strong clear message that AI can replicate art but it cannot replicate the soul and passion that fuels it.

Students were handed the following awards:-
Excellence in Music (Soundtrack)
Recognition in Culture
Recognition in Drama
Excellence in Art

As part of Samoan Language Week, we are exploring important Samoan values. Matafaioi, which means responsibility. This also happens to be one of our school values. This value reminds us of the importance of contributing positively to our families, school, and community by taking ownership of our actions and supporting those around us.
