Mabuhay, and welcome to Filipino Language Week 2026! 🇵🇭

Throughout the week, we will celebrate Filipino languages, culture and people.

Our theme for the week is:

“Respect for the Filipino Language: sa isip, sa salita, at sa gawa.”

This means respecting the Filipino language in thoughts, in words and in deeds.

Language carries a person’s identity, history and sense of belonging. When we make an effort to learn someone’s language, pronounce their name correctly or listen with genuine curiosity, we help them feel seen and valued.

The Hon Erica Stanford, Minister of Education, has recently officially opened our new classrooms.

To cater for the school's continued rapid roll growth, the block contains 6 new classrooms, including 2 new science labs.

It will be known as A-Block in reference to the ANZAC memorial which will soon be a major feature of their appearance (created by Flox), but also in memory of the original A-Block which once stood in the same area of the school.

As part of our Indian Language Week at One Tree Hill College from August 10-August 14, we are celebrating the richness and diversity of Indian languages. The theme is 'Our Language, Our Culture, Our Identity' (Hamari Bhasha, Hamari Sanskriti, Hamari Pechan).
Language is more than simply a way of communicating — it connects us to our family, culture, traditions, history and identity.
Celebrating our student's Indian heritage
Indian Language Week is also an opportunity to remind our students that speaking their mother tongue is something to be proud of. Languages carry the stories, traditions and knowledge of generations before us. When we continue to speak our languages, we help keep our cultural heritage alive for future generations.
