🌧️🎢 Rainy days call for creative adventures!

With the weather keeping us indoors, we brought mat time forward and transformed our chairs into a giant roller coaster! Using POV roller coaster videos on the big screen, the tamariki buckled in for an exciting virtual ride full of twists, turns, climbs, and drops.

The laughter, squeals, and excited faces said it all, some children were so immersed they even said they felt a little dizzy! 🤭 It was a fantastic way to channel all that rainy-day energy while using our imaginations and having fun together.

Today our tamariki enjoyed an exciting obstacle course challenge! They balanced on stepping stones, climbed over bridges, crawled through hoops, jumped across pathways, and followed letter and hopscotch trails. These activities encouraged children to develop their gross motor skills, balance, coordination, spatial awareness, and confidence while having lots of fun.
The children showed great determination, problem-solving skills, and perseverance as they navigated each part of the course. It was wonderful to see them cheering each other on and celebrating their achievements along the way.
Learning through active play helps build strong bodies, confident learners, and happy minds.

We are always so grateful for our wonderful community and love finding ways to give back.

Over the past week, we’ve been collecting donations for our local food bank. Together, we gathered cans, spreads, snacks, pasta, rice and more all to support those in need within our community.

During mat times, we had some really meaningful conversations about kindness, helping others, and why giving back matters. The tamariki were so engaged and excited to be part of something that makes a difference for others.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, your generosity helps us teach our children the true value of caring for others ♥️

Pōhutukawa Kidz is on the lookout for pre-loved treasures

If you have any wooden food, pretend cookware, small animal toys, neutral rugs, or decor pillows you no longer need, we’d love to give them a new life in our space.

Thank you for supporting our tamariki and community 💛

Today we went on a big community walk up to Beachlands School to collect some sandbags from the local response team as we prepare for the possibility of a cyclone. Thank you Community Response Team . for providing us with sandbags.

Our tamariki were so engaged and curious along the way, learning all about what a cyclone is and how sandbags can help protect our spaces by stopping water from coming inside.

We also got to see lots of trucks and diggers along the way which was an added higlight!

With daylight savings throwing our tamariki a little off balance, we decided to slow things right down and create a calm, nurturing spa day 💆‍♀️

We transformed our outdoor space to mimic a salon, had relaxing spa music, and a peaceful atmosphere to help everyone reset their bodies and minds. The children enjoyed gentle mini facials, some fun with makeup, and the special experience of being pampered.

Moments like these remind us just how important it is to tune into our tamariki and respond to their needs. Sometimes the best learning happens when we simply slow down
