Bucklands Beach Intermediate School

The Tōtara Whānau recently showcased their learning from our Where We Are in Place and Time inquiry unit through a Learning Walk. Students presented their conflict inquiries through research and detailed dioramas, exploring the causes, perspectives, and impacts of conflict. We were incredibly proud of the confidence, creativity, and communication skills they demonstrated while sharing their learning with others.

CANS WEEK
A huge thank you to all of our students, families and staff who contributed to our collection for the All Saints Church Food Bank. Last week, the donations were collected, and it was wonderful to see our school community come together to support others in such a meaningful way. The generosity shown through every can and non-perishable item donated will make a real difference for local families in need. We are very grateful to everyone who took the time to contribute and help support our wider community.

SEZ GIRLS FOOTBALL
Our girls Football teams played this week in the SEZ Football tournament at Lloyd Elsmore Park. Both teams played well and displayed good skills, great teamwork and were competitive against the other schools in our zone. A big thank you to Miss Wooloff and Miss Lindberg for their coaching of the teams.

Just a reminder about our curriculum evening on Tuesday 22nd May at 5:30pm in the BBI hall.

Curriculum Evening - Tuesday 19th May - 5:30pm-6:30pm

Our parents and caregivers are invited to join us on Tuesday, 19th May, 5:30pm-6:30pm to learn about our classroom programmes.

The evening will begin in the hall with a short presentation, then break into workshops.

CANS WEEK
This week, BBI is running a Cans Week, with all donations supporting the All Saints Church foodbank, which is in desperate need of food donations.

Students can bring in two or more cans or non-perishable food items to school by Friday, May 22. These donations will help support families in our community who may be experiencing hardship, especially during the winter months. If community members wish to drop off donations, please bring them to the BBI School Office (between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm) this week, before 8:40am on Friday, 22nd May.

As a thank you for everyone’s support, students are invited to participate in a non-uniform day on Friday, 22nd May. Students can choose not to participate.

Also, there is a bonus prize — the class that contributes the most donations will win a pizza lunch! This is being donated by the Howick Rotary to help increase our donations, as the food bank is in dire need of our support.
