BBI Talent Show
Over the last few weeks, we held two heats of the BBI Talent Show. It was amazing to see everyone take the stage, share their talents, and give it a go. Thank you to all the students who performed in the heats.

Yesterday, we held the final of the BBI Talent Show. To all the students who performed, you showed so much confidence, effort, and talent.

A big thank you to our judges who had the tough job of selecting our finalists and winners. This event was Zane’s School Leader Legacy Project, so thank you to everyone involved for being a part of it!

Daimler Dingo Education Session
Today, our Year 8 students experienced a session with Daniel Tizzard, who brought in a Daimler Dingo. The Dingo is part of his World War 2 vehicle collection. Our students were very interested in his informative talk and in exploring the vehicle related to their current unit of inquiry and the exhibition. On behalf of BBI, we truly appreciate Daniel and his family for visiting BBI to share their wealth of knowledge and bring in the collection of artefacts.

Careers Day 2026
A big thank you to all our volunteers who presented at Careers Day and gave up time from their busy schedules to share their expertise. Our students valued the chance to learn about all the different careers available within our local community. The conversations gave our students a chance to learn about the roles, responsibilities, and opportunities across a wide range of future career pathways.

On Saturday 29th August, eight teams of BBI students competed in the Tournament of Minds competition at Diocesan. The teams have spent the last six months training, and six weeks preparing specifically for the long-term and spontaneous challenges. Congratulations to team MEAQIVA, who placed first in their division and will represent BBI at the National tournament in Wellington on 12th September. A special mention also to the Dancing Ducks, who were presented with a Spirit of TOM award. Thank you to Mrs Thornhill and Mrs Bell, who have been training the teams, as well as Miss Lundberg and Ms Wood, who gave their time on Saturday to assist as adjudicators.

Congratulations to our Jazz and Hip Hop teams.

A huge congratulations to our Jazz and Hip Hop groups who competed in the Evolution Dance Competition today. Both teams competed in the 14 Years and Under category, with our Hip Hop team taking out 1st place and our Jazz team placing 3rd!

I’m incredibly proud of the hard work, commitment and energy both teams have shown throughout the year.

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful families for your ongoing support of our dancers - we couldn’t do it without you.

REHU TAI ORAL LANGUAGE COMPETITION:
Traditional Speech, Flash Talk, Spoken Word and Rap

What an incredible journey this has been! Every single student in our school stood up and presented as part of Rehi Tai this year.
From there, some students progressed to represent their whānau, and then on to our school finals. The competition and passion on display made us all so proud.
Last Friday, our school hosted the HPPA zone finals where our four category winners had the honour of representing BBI; presenting in front of external judges. The standard across the competing schools was fierce, and we're thrilled to share that BBI took out two of the four categories — an outstanding result!

A huge congratulations to Chloe Wang for her Spoken Word, and Lyla Blankenaar with Rap, who will represent our cluster of schools at the Auckland Champion of Champions on Thursday, 3 September. We'll be cheering you on!
To every student who got up and gave it a go — thank you. Your courage, your reo, and your effort make us incredibly proud.

Prices are less than normal retail, and BBI will make 40% profit on all sales. Growing information is included on each packet of seeds.
