We are a non-profit parent co-operative ECE for 0-6 years and a member of Playcentre Aotearoa. It is for children from birth to school age.

Playcentre is a unique, New Zealand wide organisation that has been dedicated to early childhood education for over 50 years. Playcentre firmly believes that family / whanau are the first and best educators for their children. We are entirely run by family / whanau who want to be involved in their children’s learning, and also want to meet and form friendships with other families in the area. As a

Exploring the World 🌿

There’s a whole world waiting to be discovered!

At Playcentre, children are encouraged to explore, investigate and wonder about the world around them - following their curiosity wherever it leads.

Sometimes the best learning starts with a simple, “I wonder what’s over there?”

Following Their Lead

The best learning starts with curiosity.

Rather than directing every activity, Playcentre encourages children to explore what fascinates them. Our whānau work alongside tamariki, extending their ideas, asking questions, and celebrating every discovery.

Because when we follow children’s interests, we help grow confident, capable learners.

Growing Together

One child’s passion often sparks another’s curiosity. 🌱

Whether it’s building a fort, caring for bugs, creating art, or baking together, shared interests help children connect, collaborate, and learn from one another.

At Playcentre, interests don’t just build learning—they build friendships and a sense of belonging.

Every Child is Unique

Every child has their own interests, strengths, and way of exploring the world. 💚

At Playcentre, we take the time to notice what lights your child up. By following their interests, we create opportunities for learning that feel meaningful, exciting, and uniquely theirs.

Because when children feel seen, they thrive.

🌿 Parenting was never meant to be done alone.

One of the greatest gifts of Playcentre isn’t just what children gain - it’s the village families find.

Whether you’re celebrating milestones, navigating toddlerhood, or simply looking for a friendly chat over a cup of tea, Playcentre is a place where lasting friendships are formed and everyone belongs.

Our tamariki grow up seeing kindness, teamwork and community modelled every session.

Because when children see adults supporting one another, they learn the value of friendship too.

💜 We’d love to welcome you into our village.

💜 Friendship starts with a simple invitation to play.

Some of the most meaningful friendships begin in the sandpit, around the playdough table, or while building a fort together.

At Playcentre, children learn important social skills through everyday play, sharing, taking turns, solving problems together and celebrating each other’s successes. These experiences help build confidence, empathy and friendships that often continue well beyond the preschool years.

And while the tamariki are making friends, parents and caregivers are too.

✨ Come and discover the friendships waiting for your whānau.

We can’t wait to welcome all our wonderful families back for another term of play, learning and connection.

At Playcentre, friendships grow alongside our tamariki. Children build confidence, imagination and lifelong memories through play, while parents and caregivers find encouragement, support and a community that truly understands the early years.

Whether you’re returning for another term or thinking about visiting for the first time, there’s always room for new faces in our village.

💜 Welcome to our village. We can’t wait to see you this Term 3!

Mud on their clothes. Sand in their shoes. Wind in their hair. 🌿

Outdoor play is about so much more than “burning energy.”
It’s where children test their capabilities, build confidence, take safe risks, and connect with the natural world around them.

Climbing, digging, balancing, exploring - every moment outside invites curiosity, resilience, and discovery.

At Playcentre, we believe some of the richest learning happens with muddy hands and open skies. ☀️

“They learn best in relationship.” 🤍

At Playcentre, learning doesn’t just happen between child and environment - it happens through connection. Through shared discoveries, comforting cuddles, encouraging words, and adults who slow down enough to truly be present.

Whānau-led learning means parents and caregivers are part of the journey too - learning alongside their children, supporting their interests, and helping create a space where everyone belongs.

Because children flourish when they feel safe, seen, and supported by their village. 🌿
