Last Saturday Lynfield College held their annual Cultural day where many cultural groups and students have been working very hard over the past few months to create these memorable performances for you guys. Thank you for all the hard work and thank you to everyone who came and supported our students!

On Monday our Kapa Haka group stood at Polyfest. After many weeks of lunch and after school practices their hard work was showcased on the stage in front of peers, whanau, and staff. Leading up to Polyfest we performed at Whanau Hui and Cultural day and built up our confidence. “Ahakoa he iti, he pounamu” is a whakatauki that perfectly describes the ropu, although it is small, it is a treasure.

We would like to thank all the people who made our performance possible, the biggest thanks to our tutors Matua Tu, Whaea Jazz, Dylen, Hunter, and Danyon. As well as all the whereas in the Maori department.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Vini Laga’aia, a valued member of our school staff and community. Last week he suffered a medical event and died last night surrounded by family.
You may know Vini as a Teacher Aide, or as the school photographer who was present at every school event.
Vini was a beloved figure who brought energy and life to the school, everyday. He will be deeply missed by students, both past and present, colleagues, and the wider school community.

Recently, 74 robotics teams from across the country all met up at Onehunga High School for the VEX V5 Nationals Robotics Competition. Out of these, 7 came from Lynfield.

The two-day-long event included many intense and close games for everyone. But in the end, our senior robotics teams 2915V and 2915M both met in the semifinals as first-seeded and fourth-seeded alliances. 2915V only won the semifinal game by a small margin, eventually going on to win the prestigious Excellence Award, Skills Champion Award, and Tournament Champion. We are so proud of all of our robotics teams competing to their fullest and brightest, and hope that we continue to foster our young students’ drive for STEM fields through this extracurricular.

Thank you to everyone who made this season possible.
