Important Notice – No School Due to Teacher Strike Action on Thursday, October 23, 2025

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are writing to inform you of a necessary school closure that will affect our campuses this week.
Please be advised that the ACES Maungawhau and Maungarei campuses will be closed to all students 14 and over on Thursday, October 23, 2025, due to planned industrial strike action by teachers across NZ.

This decision was made after careful consideration that includes ACES AE supporting the Mega Strike Action. Also, we do anticipate that we will not have sufficient teaching staff to supervise students safely on the day, nor to maintain the quality of education we are committed to providing.

The safety and well-being of your tamariki remain our highest priority.
If your child is under 14 and requires supervision (as there is no adult at home), please let us know so that we can make arrangements to provide supervision at their Campus.

Key Details:
Date of Closure: Thursday, October 23, 2025

Reason: Industrial strike action by teaching staff

If your child is under 14 and requires supervision, please let us know
School Resumes: School will operate as normal on Friday, October 24, 2025.
We understand that a school closure creates significant challenges for whanau, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We are committed to minimising disruptions to the education of your tamariki and appreciate your understanding and support in this situation, which is outside of the ACES's direct control.

We encourage you to make alternative care arrangements for your child for the day of the closure.

Should you have any immediate questions, please contact your Campus Leader, the ACES office at 0800 020 378 or (09) 302 0426, or reply to this email or text.

Thank you for your ongoing support of ACES and our mahi.

Sincerely,
Karyl Puklowski
ACES Manager

A Resounding Triumph: Celebrating Our Students' Boxing Achievements!
We wrapped up an incredible term with a powerful display of skill and determination in our boxing elective program! Under the astounding leadership of our very own Coach Thelo, whose passion for boxing and commitment to brightening the lives of our students shines through every session, we witnessed remarkable progress.

A special thank you to Balmoral Lee Gar Gym Manager and Coach Rodney Rounds for his invaluable assistance in assessing our students' phase work on the pads to BLG for hosting our hugely successfull elective this term. The culmination of their hard work was celebrated with completion, merit, and excellence awards, recognizing not just skill, but the tremendous effort and improvement demonstrated by each individual.

A massive congratulations to Jacob, who earned the title of Best Overall Student across both campuses! His dedication and progress were truly exceptional.

This term's success wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of our ACES Tutor Team: Salome (Maungarei acampus Leader), Reuben (Maungawhau Campus Leader ), Dot, Ezra, Tash, , and Tim, who assisted Coach Thelo on the floor. Their dedication and guidance have been instrumental in our students' growth.

Shout put to you unwavering passion for working at ACES AE, combined with his boxing expertise, creates a truly transformative experience for our students. His ability to inspire and motivate is truly a gift to our school community.

We're all eagerly looking forward to another exciting term of growth and achievement.
