Be honest...

How do you feel about fussy cutting?

Love it, don't mind it, or avoid it whenever possible?

I know it isn't everyone's favourite technique, but sometimes a little bit of fussy cutting can turn a simple image into a lovely focal point for a card.

I'm probably in the "don't love it, but don't mind it" category.

What about you?

✂️ Don't mind it

Have you ever looked at a sheet of Designer Series Paper and wondered what to do with it?

Most of us use DSP as a background layer on our cards.

For this card, I did something different. I fussy cut one of the black and white images from the Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper, added a little colour and shimmer, and turned it into the focal point of the card.

Have you ever used Designer Series Paper as the main feature of your card, or do you usually keep it in the background?

Did you miss last Thursday's Live?

I shared how I turned the black and white images from the Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper into the focal point of a card using a little colour, shimmer, and some simple blending.

These cards were originally designed for my Coffee & Cards sessions, and they were lots of fun to create.

You can see all the cards, read more about the project, and watch the video replay here:

Have you seen the two new Kits Collection kits released this month?

The Washes of Gratitude Kit combines soft watercolour backgrounds with precut floral and greenery pieces to create elegant thank you cards.

The Shaded Petals Kit is a little different. Layer the precut petals, add soft shaded colour with the included Sponge Daubers, and create beautiful flowers with a hand-crafted look.

Kits are perfect for busy crafters, beginners, or anyone who enjoys having a ready-to-go creative project on hand. They also make lovely gifts.

With Free Shipping available until tomorrow on orders of $100 NZD or more, now could be a great time to pick up a kit or two and add any other supplies you need at the same time.

TURN DESIGNER SERIES PAPER INTO A FOCAL POINT | ARTISAN SKETCHED GARDEN CARD

This week I shared a simple way to take Designer Series Paper beyond the background and turn it into the focal point of your card.

Using the Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper, I coloured some of the black and white images with Stampin' Blends and Shimmer Brushes, fussy cut them, and paired them with a softly blended oval background using the beautiful 2026–2028 In Colors.

These cards were originally created for one of my Coffee & Cards sessions and are a great example of how a small section of patterned paper can become the main feature of your design.

Which colour combination is your favourite? I'd love to hear in the comments.
