Fantastic teamwork at the recent Merrilands School, New Plymouth planting day, saw 820 native plants planted easily before lunch.

The plants the school has grown this year will provide habitat and protect and clean the riparian edge. Thank you to Connell Contractors Ltd who support the school in the TFS programme and helped planting on the day and the fantastic landowners who hosted the school.

It is wonderful to see more first time planting days take place in the South Island with recent action at the Temuka Primary planting day.

With the landowner supplying stakes and rabbit guards to help protect the precious plants the school had grown, the school team, together with helping hands from school partners Fonterra were kept busy.

A fantastic day, made even better with a delicious morning team for the team and a chance to check in on the newborn calves and lambs before heading back to school. Great work!

An overcast, windy day did not dampen the enthusiasm of the Marina View School students who with their wonderful teacher and dedicated parents planted the 882 native plants they had grown at school.

Their plants will reduce sediment, filter run off and help stablise the soil close to the Kaipara harbour. A huge thank you to everybody involved to bring the day together - well done.

We were proud to support the Te Mana o Tauhara Charitable Trust to plant on Tauhara Middle 15 lands on Mt Tauhara at the Tauhara Kītea Tamariki Planting Day alongside so many other organisations, kura, and community members. We came together to help restore the korowai of the maunga.

It was amazing to see around 500 tamariki from across the Taupō rohe planting more than 3,000 native trees. 2,000 of those trees had been grown from seedlings by the tamariki of St Patrick's Catholic School, Taupo and Waipahihi School, through the Trees for Survival programme with sponsorship from Hynds.

In Taupō a combined planting day saw St Patrick's Catholic School, Taupo and Waipahihi School plant an impressive 2,117 native plants that they'd grown in their school grow units.

Their plants were some of the 4000 plants planted with Tauhara Collective and led by the crew at Kids Greening Taupo - all part of the restoring, reconnecting and regeneration of the native ngahere of Tauhara Maunga. Amazing work!
