Our tamariki had so much fun making dumplings for our Chinese New Year feast π₯β¨
Dumplings symbolise wealth and prosperity, noodles represent long life and good fortune, fish is shared for abundance in the year ahead, and spring rolls symbolise wealth because they look like gold bars. What a special way to explore culture through hands-on learning and shared kai together π§§β€οΈ

Our tamariki have been busy creating beautiful window art to celebrate Chinese New Year π§§β¨ This vibrant horse, made with red and yellow cellophane, shines brilliantly as the light pours through our front room.
In Chinese culture, the Year of the Horse symbolises strength, energy, courage and perseverance. Through this experience, children explored colour, light, cultural traditions, and the meaning behind zodiac symbols β combining creativity with rich cultural learning.
Water and sand play invite tamariki to explore, experiment, and discover.
Meaningful learning happens when children learn by doing. π

β¨ Happy Diwali from all of us at Christopher Robin Childcare! πͺ
Our tamariki have been busy celebrating this special festival of lights β learning, cooking, and sharing delicious kai together.
We enjoyed a wonderful Diwali feast with lamb curry, garlic naan, poppadoms, and samosas, and the children helped prepare puri and mango lassi to go with it. Last week they also made sweet coconut squares for dessert.
Itβs been a joyful time filled with colour, flavour, and togetherness as we explored the meaning of Diwali β spreading light, kindness, and happiness. πΈβ¨
