There was something so special about slowing down and creating with clay today. 🤎

Little hands rolled, pinched, squeezed, flattened and shaped their own unique creations, building fine motor skills, creativity, problem-solving and perseverance along the way. Every masterpiece was different, reflecting each child's imagination and ideas.

It's amazing how a simple lump of clay can inspire so much learning, conversation and joy. We can't wait to see where their creativity takes them next! 🌿✨

✨🌟 What a magical evening at our Matariki Pyjama Party! 🌟✨

Our tamariki arrived in their cosy pyjamas, ready for a special night of celebrating Matariki together.

There was something for everyone to enjoy, from dancing the night away in our disco room, snuggling up with stories in the story room, creating beautiful artwork, and exploring puzzles and weaving activities. The children also decorated their own delicious star biscuits before gathering together to enjoy them with warm hot chocolate.

It was a wonderful evening filled with laughter, creativity, friendship, and whānau, as we celebrated the values of Matariki—coming together, reflecting, and creating special memories.

Thank you to all of our wonderful families for joining us and making the evening so memorable. We hope everyone went home with full hearts and happy memories. ✨💙

Today our tamariki became little bakers as they decorated delicious star biscuits! ⭐💛

As part of our Matariki celebrations, the children carefully spread icing, topped with star sprinkles, and created their own unique star designs. This simple activity encouraged creativity, fine motor skills, and lots of joyful conversations as we celebrated the stars of Matariki together.

The best part? Enjoying their special creations with big smiles! ✨

⭐✨ Today our tamariki explored Hiwa-i-te-Rangi, the Matariki star of hopes, dreams, and aspirations for the future.

After learning about the special meaning of Hiwa-i-te-Rangi through stories and discussion, the children reflected on their own hopes and wishes. They carefully wrote or shared their wishes on paper strips, folded them into stars, and placed them into our glowing Matariki wishing jars.

This beautiful experience encouraged our tamariki to dream big, express their ideas, and look to the future with hope and excitement—just as Hiwa-i-te-Rangi reminds us to do. 💙

❤️✨ Today our tamariki explored Pōhutukawa, the Matariki star that encourages us to remember and honour those we love.

Through stories and waiata, the children learnt about the significance of Pōhutukawa and reflected on the special people in their lives. Holding red hearts, they danced together as they thought about their whānau and the love that connects us across generations.

Our creative experiences included drawing portraits of our whānau and building a whare from red popsicle sticks to frame them, celebrating the place where love and belonging begin. The children also created beautiful family trees, with each pōhutukawa flower representing a treasured member of their whānau.

These meaningful experiences help our tamariki develop a strong sense of identity, belonging, and appreciation for the people who shape their lives. ❤️

💨✨ Today our tamariki explored Ururangi, the Matariki star connected to the winds.

Our learning was full of movement and discovery! The children created colourful windsocks decorated with Matariki stickers, which looked magnificent dancing in the breeze. They designed their own pinwheels and watched them spin with the power of the wind, explored a fascinating "tornado in a jar" science experiment, and investigated what the wind could move by testing light objects such as feathers.

We also spent time observing Ururangi at work in the natural world, watching the trees sway and the clouds drift across the sky before finishing with the joyful Ururangi dance using flowing scarves.

Through play, exploration, and science, our tamariki discovered that even though we can't see the wind, we can see and feel its amazing power all around us. 💙

Our tamariki had so much fun making dumplings for our Chinese New Year feast 🥟✨

Dumplings symbolise wealth and prosperity, noodles represent long life and good fortune, fish is shared for abundance in the year ahead, and spring rolls symbolise wealth because they look like gold bars. What a special way to explore culture through hands-on learning and shared kai together 🧧❤️
