Dumplings symbolise wealth and prosperity, noodles represent long life and good fortune, fish is shared for abundance in the year ahead, and spring rolls symbolise wealth because they look like gold bars. What a special way to explore culture through hands-on learning and shared kai together 🧧❤️

Our tamariki have been busy celebrating this special festival of lights — learning, cooking, and sharing delicious kai together.

We enjoyed a wonderful Diwali feast with lamb curry, garlic naan, poppadoms, and samosas, and the children helped prepare puri and mango lassi to go with it. Last week they also made sweet coconut squares for dessert.

It’s been a joyful time filled with colour, flavour, and togetherness as we explored the meaning of Diwali — spreading light, kindness, and happiness. 🌸✨
