Its October and I realize we are close to November 12-15 when I will once again be able to meet dedicated rehabilitation providers and case managers interested in acquired brain injury. Level one covers the three key components of effective rehabilitation: knowledge of the brain and the effects of brain damage, knowledge of cognitive and behavioural interventions, and critical perceptions of individuals with brain injury and their individuals needs. There are numerous case examples and exercises that students participate in to understand how we can best blend all aspects of intervention.
We are happy to announce a new topic in this year's level one course. This year we will be looking at achieving greater empathy in clients that may have lost the ability to recognize emotions in others, among many other topics. We hope to see you in November!
Registration for ‘Whatever it takes 2019’ is now open. Early bird rates end in August. Looking forward to a good attendance in November.

As promised, we will occasionally post recent publications pertaining to community based brain injury rehabilitation. This interesting pilot study assessed the outcomes of group rehabilitation for communication difficulties as a result of acquired brain injury and highlights the importance of integrating the community into treatment.
