🌸 Pink Shirt Day Fun! 🌸
The tamariki had a fantastic time celebrating Pink Shirt Day on Friday! For those who don't know, Pink Shirt Day is all about promoting kindness, inclusion, and standing up against bullying. It started in Canada when two students organized a protest after their friend was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Now, it's celebrated worldwide!
Our day was filled with joy and laughter as the children played together with pink balloons, sprayed their hair pink, and had lovely pink flowers painted on their faces. We even had some pink and red Spidermen running around! πŸ•·οΈπŸ’–
This special day ties perfectly with Te Whāriki, our early childhood curriculum, which emphasizes:
Empowerment / Whakamana: Tamariki felt empowered standing against bullying and promoting kindness.
Relationships / Ngā Hononga: The kids built stronger friendships through fun, shared experiences.
Well-being / Mana Atua: Ensuring every child felt safe, respected, and included.
Thank you to everyone who made our Pink Shirt Day so special. It was truly a lovely pink day! πŸŒ·πŸ’•

🌟🌌 This July at Uptown Kids, we spent the month celebrating Matariki, it was a special time! 🌟🌌
Matariki means "tiny eyes of the gods" and is all about twinkling stars. People celebrate it by gazing at the stars, sharing stories, having yummy feasts, and dancing together. It's a time to be thankful for our loved ones and celebrate new beginnings. We celebrated by learning new songs, reading stories about Matariki and making many wonderful crafts. Matariki is magical! 🌟🌟🌟

Kia Ora Whanau! We have had another wonderful month of learning and discovering together. The tamariki have been exploring the world of dinosaurs and volcanoes recently. Everyone has discovered more about dinosaurs as we had a dinosaur hunt, erupting volcanoes in the sandpit, and creating handprint dinosaur paintings. Tino pai to mahi Tamariki!
March is also the time when we learnt more about the Irish culture together. The tamariki enjoyed St Patrick's day by wearing green, hearing some Irish music and learning how to say 'Beannachtai na FΓ©ile PΓ‘draig ort' (Happy St Patrick's Day)in Irish Gaelic.
