We’ve had a wonderful week here at , filled with engaging and fun learning experiences for our tamariki. With the weather bringing a mix of conditions, much of our time was spent indoors, where the children continued to thrive in a warm and stimulating environment.
They showed great enthusiasm as they explored a variety of activities, learning alongside one another and building strong connections through shared experiences. It has been lovely to see their curiosity, creativity, and cooperation shine throughout the week.

Bula!
We celebrated Fijian language week.
The theme for this year's Fijian language week was. “Na noqu vosa: me na tekivu mai vale – My language starts at home.”
Fijian Language Week, known as Macawa ni Vosa VakaViti, is part of New Zealand’s Pacific Language Weeks initiative, which honors the languages and cultures of Pacific communities across Aotearoa.
The celebration focused on the importance of nurturing the Fijian language within the home, emphasizing that language is a vessel for identity, values, and connection.
Here in our Whare our Tamariki, painted the traditional Fijian house called Bure, which is made from leaves. We learnt about the sasa broom which is made from coconut leaves, practiced some weaving and enjoyed Fijian themed arts and crafts.
Tamariki also had the opportunity to taste cassava which is a common root vegetable found in Fiji.
Teachers did songs and stories with the children.

Mālo e lelei Whanau. This week we celebrated Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e Lea Faka-Tonga (Tongan Language Week).
This year, the theme is 'Ko 'etau lea, ko e fe'unu mahu'inga ia ki he mo'ui 'a e Tonga, which means our language is a vital strand of our Tongan culture, reflecting the deep connection between the language and cultural practices that sustain Tongan identity.
The children of kowhai room have made their own tapa inspired art, using tea as a natural dye.
One of the foods commonly found in Tonga is a type of round pancake called panikeke or Keke isite, tasting some of these was one of the week's highlights. Our older Tamariki made the panikeke with kaiako and shared with everyone.
