On Wednesday night, our Boys’ Hockey First XI claimed the Auckland Premier Championship against Westlake Boys’ High School! 🏑🏆

With the score locked at 2–2 at full-time, the match went to a shootout. Goalkeeper Ben Woodhams (Year 13, Selwyn) was outstanding, keeping all three Westlake attempts out and leaving them scoreless. Tarquin Johnson (Year 13, School), Charlie Middleton (Year 13, Averill) and Oliver Stewart (Year 12, Marsden) all converted their opportunities to secure a 3–0 shootout victory for King’s! 🙌🔥

A huge congratulations to the team on an incredible result and a fantastic reward for all their hard work. We wish them all the best as they travel to Whangārei on Sunday to take on Whangārei Boys’ High School in the Illerbrun Cup, before heading to Dunedin for the Rankin Cup – the National Championship. 👑

Last week, our Year 13 Accounting students enjoyed their annual visit to the PwC Auckland office. 🏢

The visit gave students a behind-the-scenes look at a leading accounting firm, with the opportunity to hear from recent graduates about their early careers and connect what they’re learning in the classroom with the world of work. 💡✨️

A big thank you to PwC for sharing their time, experience and insights with our students.

Congratulations to Thornton Wallberg (Year 13, Marsden), who has been selected to represent New Zealand in Archery at the Dakar 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games! 🇸🇳

Thornton will travel to Senegal in October as part of the New Zealand team, including Amber Zhou (Year 12, Marion Bruce), to compete amongst the best young athletes from around the globe. The College is incredibly proud of Thornton, and we are excited to see him take on the world stage! 🏹

We wish Thornton the best as he prepares for this wonderful opportunity. ✈️ 🌍️

LBB crescendo at KBB! 🎶

We’re delighted to share that our Little Big Band (LBB) has won Gold at this year’s KBB Music Festival, achieving an incredible 96% — their highest result ever! 🥇✨

They also took home the trophy for Best Improvisation, a first for the College. 🏆

To top it off, our Symphony Orchestra and Premier Concert Band both won Silver, with each falling short of Gold by only a few points. 🥈✨️

A special mention goes to Music Teacher Chris Artley, whose dedication and expertise have helped develop our Little Big Band into an exceptional ensemble.

The evening celebrated the creativity and talent of our Media Studies students, showcasing the incredible mahi they have put into their productions throughout the year.

With the red carpet rolled out, students had the opportunity to share their work with friends, family and the wider King’s College community, and see their films take centre stage on the big screen. 🎞️✨

We are incredibly proud of all our Media Studies students and the dedication and creativity they bring to their work. It was fantastic to see their ideas come to life and their achievements celebrated. 🙌

Five King’s students have been selected to represent New Zealand in Water Polo at the Australian State Championships in Melbourne this September! 🇳🇿🇦🇺✈️

Congratulations to Austin Aves (Year 11, Greenbank), Desmond Huang (Year 10, Marsden), Henry Gleeson (Year 11, Averill), Leo Craig-Menzies (Year 10, Greenbank) and Max Yang (Year 10, Averill), who were selected by Water Polo New Zealand earlier this month to compete with the U15 New Zealand team. 🤽‍♂️

What a week for our young musicians! 🎼

The King's College Symphony Orchestra competed at the KBB Music Festival yesterday, after rigorous preparations including a workshop on Sunday and a beautiful instrumental showcase on Monday! 🎻🔥

On Thursday and Friday, our Little Big Band and Premier Concert Band will also be competing at the KBB Music Festival. 🎶

Congratulations to Amber Zhou (Year 12, Marion Bruce), who has been selected represent New Zealand in beach Wushu at the Dakar 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games! 🇸🇳

Not only is this an incredible personal achievement, but Amber will also make history as the first New Zealander selected to compete in Wushu at an Olympic-level event. 🙌

“I feel incredibly grateful to my family, my coach and my teammates to be able to represent New Zealand at such a high level. I hope this paves a new path for Wushu in New Zealand and inspires young girls, like me back then, to pick up their training shoes and be glad they chose Wushu.” — Amber Zhou. 👑 ❤️
