Some of our Arts students have just returned from an inspiring four-day trip to Sydney, Australia, where they experienced the spectacular Vivid Sydney Light Festival! 🇦🇺✨

From visits to the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, and the iconic Sydney Opera House, to exploring the city’s vibrant creative scene, the trip offered no shortage of inspiration. 📸

Students also put their artistic skills into practice through digital drawing challenges, using Sydney’s striking architecture and complex structures as creative reference points. 🖋️

Our keen Astronomy Club recently hosted an Astronomy Night at King’s College. 🛰️✨

Students learned how to calibrate telescopes, including the Sky-Watcher and Mr Horacek-Glading’s "Seestar Telescope", before turning their lenses to the night sky to explore the world beyond Earth. 🪐🔭

With expert guidance from Mr Horacek-Glading, students gained fascinating insights into astronomy, making our first Astronomy Night a stellar success! 💫

Ten King’s College students recently took part in four different chamber groups at the NZCT Auckland Chamber Music Regionals. 🎼

Two students, Henry Wang (Year 11, Greenbank) and Ella Zhang (Year 12, Taylor) were in groups that received Highly Commended Awards at the final, placing them in the top five of over 100 groups! 🔥

This is an amazing achievement as the competition standard was incredibly high. Our other groups, Aurelius Quartet and JJK Trio, also received very high praise from the adjudicators. 🙌

Ka pai tō mahi to these incredible students. 👑

Last week, the Phillips Society had the privilege of welcoming Mitch Kornman (Greenbank, 1999–2003), Old Collegian and Managing Partner of McKinsey New Zealand, to speak with our students.

The Phillips Society connects students with inspiring leaders and real-world perspectives, helping to shape the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and entrepreneurs. 💡

Mitch shared a thoughtful and forward-looking perspective on the forces shaping New Zealand’s future, encouraging students to think beyond traditional career paths and consider the opportunities and responsibilities of living in a rapidly changing world. 🧠

Thank you, Mitch, for your time, generosity, and for inspiring our students through such a meaningful conversation. 💭
