What happens when artificial intelligence, climate science, digital innovation, and health equity intersect?

This stream explores the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of health across Aotearoa and the Pacific. From addressing algorithmic bias in healthcare and using digital twins to better understand urban heat, to examining climate impacts on child health, increasing participation in clinical trials, and understanding health information shared on social media, these presentations showcase research at the forefront of innovation and equity.

Chaired by Liโ€™amanaia Dr Roannie Ng Shiu, Stream 4 brings together researchers committed to ensuring that technological advances and climate responses are informed by the needs, experiences, and aspirations of our communities.

๐ŸŒ Stream 3: Pandemic Preparedness & Infectious Diseases
Pandemics and infectious diseases continue to pose significant challenges for Pacific communities, highlighting the importance of strong health systems, surveillance, workforce capability, research, and regional collaboration.

Join us for Stream 3 of the Te Poutoko Ora a Kiwa Symposium 2026, where researchers and practitioners will share insights on rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease, immunisation workforce development, antiviral discovery, disease surveillance, scabies, respiratory infections, and strengthening preparedness across the Pacific region.

Chaired by Professor Judith McCool, this stream brings together leading experts working at the intersection of research, policy, public health, and community action to improve health security and resilience for Pacific peoples.

Join us for Stream 2 of the Te Poutoko Ora a Kiwa Symposium 2026 as researchers, clinicians, and community leaders explore innovative approaches to prevention, treatment, equity, and culturally responsive care. Topics span dementia, cancer care, mental health, nutrition, physiotherapy, community pharmacy, family wellbeing, and cutting-edge biomedical research.

This webinar brings together leading voices in theology, ethics, and Pacific health leadership to explore what a culturally grounded, community-centred ethics framework could look like for Niue.
