Titirangi Primary School

On Wednesday, 18th August, Titirangi Primary School (TPS) took part in the Blockhouse Bay Invitational Football Tournament for the second consecutive year. The 7-a-side mixed tournament is a fantastic opportunity for our teams to compete against schools outside our regular Western Districts cluster. Participating schools included Halsey Drive, Marshall Laing, New Lynn, Glenavon, Green Bay, Laingholm, Blockhouse Bay Primary, and TPS.

Both of our teams performed exceptionally well throughout the morning. TPS Tide finished 1st in their pool, while TPS Claws placed 2nd in theirs. This set up an all-TPS semi-final showdown, where TPS Tide ultimately earned a 3–0 victory to advance to the grand final. In the 3rd/4th playoff match, TPS Claws put up a tough fight against the defending champions, narrowly missing out 1–0 to secure an impressive 4th place overall.

In the championship match, TPS Tide faced familiar rivals Blockhouse Bay Primary, who had previously beaten them 4–3 in last year's 3rd/4th place playoff. The final was an edge-of-your-seat battle. TPS struck first to lead 1–0 before BHB equalised. TPS reclaimed the lead, but BHB drew level once more at 2–2 following a penalty award. With just two minutes remaining, TPS Tide mounted a high-pressure attack, culminating in Remy T scoring his hat-trick goal. TPS held on under pressure to claim the Championship title!

A huge thank you to all our supporters, parents, siblings, and grandparents who came along throughout the day to cheer us on. We also extend our sincere gratitude to our dedicated coaches: Dave Tolhurst, Ali Mirjalili, Kevin Kinver, and Gaylene Hodkinson.
As always, our immense gratitude goes to our Sports Coordinators, Kiran Ramji and Katrina Booth, whose enthusiasm, energy, and unwavering dedication continue to inspire us.

This was a fantastic warm-up for our Inter-School Football Tournament in early Term 4.

A little late to the party with this post, but we couldn't let the incredible work that went into last Friday's Matariki Disco go without a HUGE thank you! 💙
Some of our Year 5 and 6 students were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the setup, and the response was nothing short of WOW!

We can't thank our amazing team of parent disco helpers enough for once again pulling out all the stops. From creating the incredible backdrop, cutting out what felt like zillions of stars and other shapes, to putting it all together with the lights and decorations, it was nothing short of spectacular!
You truly transformed the space into something magical for our tamariki.
A massive thank you to the teams here late on Thursday night preparing, and to the incredible team who came in on Friday and worked tirelessly all day until it was done.
What an incredible effort! We love being able to share these pictures and showcase just how much creativity and hard work our amazing team put into making this night so special. 💙

And don't worry, we haven't forgotten about all the fun that happened on the night! We are currently working our way through the photos taken at the disco and will be sharing some of those with you very soon.

Thank you to DJ Clint for bringing the music and party vibes, the photographers, our team on the ground who helped get everything packed away, and of course, Stephen, our awesome caretaker, he's here, he's there, he's EVERYWHERE! always helping, always lending a hand and always making sure everything is running smoothly. 💙

We know how blessed we are here at TPS. We can feel it with all the support you bring, time and time again. It takes an amazing community to make events like this happen, and we are so incredibly grateful to every single person who helped make the night so special.

📚 And that's a wrap on Book Week 2026! 📚

From inspiring author visits to spectacular costumes and creative displays, our school has been buzzing with the joy of reading all week.

We've had opportunities throughout the week to visit the library for lunchtime stories, share our favourite books, visit the Book Fair, enjoy buddy reading with our buddy classes, creating even more opportunities to celebrate the joy of reading.

We were lucky to be visited by two fantastic authors, David Riley inspired our students by sharing his journey to becoming an author, while Jo van Dam captivated us with her books about fascinating creatures from around the world.

Our incredibly creative teachers also transformed classroom windows into spectacular book displays. From giant book covers to I Spy scenes, they are amazing!

Thank you to everyone who supported our Book Fair. And a huge thank you to our wonderful librarian, Anthea, for bringing the whole week together and making it such a special celebration.

Of course, the highlight of the week was our annual Book Character Parade! Thank you to all our students and families for the incredible effort, imagination, and creativity that went into your amazing costumes. They were absolutely fantastic!

We hope this week has inspired our students to pick up a new book, discover a new author, and continue their love of reading.

I've been lucky enough to bring home this gorgeous stack of brand new books tonight so I can practise reading out loud. I don't get to do that very often anymore, and I'm feeling a bit nervous ❤️

They're all fantastic, but Book Week Bear has to be my favourite! 🐻📖 It's the perfect book to celebrate Book Week, a funny story full of imagination, creativity, friendship and school fun. It captures all the excitement of dressing up for Book Week.

Book Week is flying by. Have you thought about costumes for the Book Parade on Friday yet? We can't wait to see everyone's amazing characters come to life!

Today we're celebrating Principals' Day across Aotearoa!

Queen of the dress-ups. Never misses a duty. Always there for our students. We think you're the bee's knees! 💛

Our Room 24 Year 1 students popped in to visit Andrea today with some ideas about what they would do if they were principal...
💭 "I would make the kids slime the teachers!" – Anneke
⏰ "I would make playtime longer!" – Isla & Quinn
🛝 "I would make the big kids play on the junior playground and let us play on the senior playground!"

We're not sure Andrea will be taking up all of those suggestions, but they certainly gave us something to consider.

Great to see our Cochair and neighbourhood legend, Bruce featured at the latest Crafty Baker Exhibition.
This show open now and continuing through August, is a collaboration between the Crafty Baker - Dinesh Diaz and Jill Perrott, and features portraits done by Titirangi Primary School students aged between 7 and 8. It acknowledges long standing “ notables” in the Titirangi community.
Congratulations to all this is a wonderful idea and the artwork fantastic!
