More Than a Chinese Class – Discover Taiwan Through Culture

At Chi-Yuan Education Centre, we believe that language learning is most meaningful when it is connected to culture, people, and real-life experiences.

This week, our Taiwan Centre for Mandarin Learning (TCML) students enjoyed a special Taiwanese Tea Culture Experience following their Chinese class. What was planned as a 30-minute activity naturally extended to over an hour as participants became immersed in the calming atmosphere of traditional music, tea aromas, and mindful conversation.

Through tasting Taiwanese Oolong Tea and Honey Black Tea, students explored the art of tea appreciation using all five senses. Many shared how relaxing, peaceful, and meaningful the experience was, with some describing it as an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with themselves.

At Chi-Yuan Education Centre, we offer more than Chinese language classes. We create opportunities for cultural discovery, lifelong learning, and genuine community connections. Through language, arts, cultural workshops, and exchange activities, our students gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan while building friendships across cultures.

🐟🦀🦐 Traditional Chinese Painting Comes to Mt Roskill Library!

Children experienced the magic of Chinese brush painting during the school holiday programme, learning to create fish, crabs, and shrimp with just ink and a brush.

Many were using a Chinese brush for the first time, yet produced beautiful artworks and even joined in a collaborative community painting. Parents were amazed, and the children discovered how art can bring calm, focus, and joy.

Thank you to Mt Roskill Library for helping Chi-Yuan Education Centre bring traditional Chinese culture into the community! 🎨✨
