Happy Spring Festival!

To celebrate at Piccolo Park Early Learning Centre we were busy with cooking, crafts, stories and dancing.

Thank you to our whānau who came in to support us with our celebrations.

At Piccolo Park we believe it is important for children to be actively engaged and have ownership of their own learning.

Clay is a medium to facilitate open ended and sensory exploration. With clay, there is no prescribed way to play. This allows children to explore in their own way, with a focus on the process of learning.

As you can see from our photos - each child’s way of encountering clay is unique and creative.

We decided to make jam with the plums we collected from our orchard at Piccolo Park! Our Tamariki worked hard to chop and mash the plums and we cooked this to make jam then enjoyed it today for our morning tea. Our tamariki shared that the jam was “yummy and sour!” Making jam was quite a long process, over three days from start to finish and our tamariki showed such persistence, cooperation and a sense of responsibility. We are proud of their efforts - ka pai!
