At RBELC, supporting children to make a confident and successful transition to school has been a priority since 1998.
We have intentionally included early literacy, phonics, oral language, writing and numeracy within our play-based programme, alongside independence, confidence and social skills.
With literacy and mathematics now a strong national priority, we’re proud that these foundations have long been part of what we do.
At RBELC, transition to school isn’t an add-on – it’s an important part of preparing our tamariki for their next step.

☀️🌈 When sunshine becomes part of the play! 🌈☀️

There was a little bit of magic happening at Red Beach Early Learning Centre this week! As the sunlight streamed through our colourful Magna-Tiles, the children discovered that their creations could make beautiful patterns of coloured light across the table.

What began as building quickly became an exploration of light, colour, shape and shadow — noticing what happened as different colours and shapes caught the sunshine. 🔺🟦✨

We love these spontaneous moments of discovery, where children’s curiosity leads the learning and something as simple as sunshine opens up a whole new world to investigate.
