Northern Health School Waikato Unit had a successful whanau activity last week making Whakairi Pakitara out of harakeke.
Working with this taonga (harakeke & the people) to create something using this resource from the land was Whanaungatanga in action – kinship, relationship, and a sense of connection built through this shared experience.
It was wonderful to have our student come in with her koro. Staff also enjoyed the experience. Kia ora whanau.

Happy last day of Term 4! Wishing you all a safe and relaxing festive season. Ngā mihi o te Kirihimete me te Tau Hou!
At NHS Waikato Unit, oh what a sight!
The Unit was buzzing from morning to night.
Baubles and candles and chocolate tree cheer,
Funky earrings and cupcakes made bright for the year.
Gingerbread houses and cards by the heap,
Kids being brave and taking big leaps.
Carols rang out and friendships grew tight,
A Christmas of joy, sparkly, messy, and bright!
Oh the fun that was had with the Waikato crew!
With sparkle and mess and sweet treats too! 🎄✨
