Montessori momentsโจ
Our tamariki have been deeply engaged with the Montessori materials, building focus, concentration, and accuracy through hands-on learning experiences. Each activity encourages children to slow down, think carefully, and take pride in completing tasks independently at their own pace.
As they repeat and refine their movements, children are developing perseverance, confidence, and a strong sense of responsibility for their learning environment. Itโs wonderful to see the joy and satisfaction on their faces as they master new skills and challenge themselves in meaningful ways.

From carefully pinning objects to confidently making marks on paper.
Through daily Montessori-inspired pre-writing experiences, our tamariki are slowly strengthening the small muscles in their hands and fingers through focused pinning work. These simple but meaningful activities help develop the control, coordination, and concentration needed for writing readiness over time.
As children move from pinning activities to drawing and early writing, they are building confidence, independence, and persistence while learning that their marks, movements, and ideas have meaning. Itโs amazing to see how these small daily experiences support such important learning journeys.

So much fun in the sunshine today as the tamariki enjoyed playing badminton outside โ๏ธ๐ธ
There was lots of running, reaching, swinging, and movement happening throughout the play space as children practised their gross motor skills in a fun and relaxed way. It was lovely to see their excitement as they worked together, took turns, and celebrated each otherโs efforts ๐
Outdoor play experiences like this support coordination, confidence, and active exploration while also encouraging children to enjoy being physically active with their friends in the fresh air.

Tidy up time is all part of our learning.
After finishing our work, we carefully roll our mat, pack away our resources, and return everything to its place. These small routines help children build independence, responsibility, and respect for our environment and each other.
Through Montessori practices like this, children learn to care for the space around them, develop concentration, and take pride in completing a task from beginning to end.

Montessori maths in action.
Tamariki explore counting and number recognition through hands-on learning, working independently and building confidence as they problem-solve at their own pace.
Beautiful to see their focus, persistence, and growing confidence as capable learners, developing strong foundations for school and beyond.

April was full of creativity, kindness and connection ๐ผ
We got busy making Easter crafts, creating beautiful poppy flowers for ANZAC, and baking ANZAC biscuits to share with our preschool neighbours. It was a lovely way for our tamariki to show care, learn about giving, and be part of the wider community โค๏ธ
We also had an exciting excursion to the big school playground next door! The children showed confidence, curiosity and teamwork as they explored a new space, took on challenges, and supported each other along the way
A special month of learning, remembering, sharing and growing together ๐ฟ

Our MOVE programme continued this month with a flying spinner toy, similar to a bamboo dragonfly ๐ฟ๐
The tamariki loved testing how to launch it, watching how high it could fly, and chasing after it as it spun through the air. Lots of outdoor fun, problem-solving, hand-eye coordination, and big body movement happening all at once!
It was a great chance for tamariki to build confidence, try again when it didnโt quite work, and share the excitement with friends โจ
