We are a free ECE run by parents & caregivers who attend with their children. Let's play! We also offer 20 ECE hours for over 3 year olds.

Parents are the first and best educators of their young children – and investing time in our children is a theme that Glendene Playcentre is strongly committed to. We invite you to come and see what our families have gained from being involved in parent-led Early Childhood Education. Any family with a young child aged 0 to 6yrs is welcome to come for three free visits. Visit us on session - on Mon

'Don't pour the water on the blowhole!' The tamariki were so excited to help the stranded whale and thanks to Project Jonah for sharing these interesting knowledge to us!

Happy Easter! This Saturday, we celebrated Easter with whanau in our playcentre. A lot of activities kept our tamariki busy and fun: we hunted painted rock, ate chocolate eggs, and shared Kai, we also had face painting, playdough and collage to do and watched the movie together on our favorite pyjamas. We were so lucky to have each other in Glendene Playcentre! 🐰🐰😊😊

Giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi - a statement from our Board

Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi, Playcentre Aotearoa and our 390 ECE Centres stand with kura and schools across Aotearoa that continue to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi despite recent legislative changes.

Joining the many schools and education providers that have confirmed their commitment, our stance is clear: giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi is not negotiable. Our identity, our governance, and our practice are underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Partnership between tangata whenua and tangata tiriti.

We affirm our commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi in every aspect of educating more than 14,000 tamariki, our decision-making, and our governance.

This is more than a principle; it is a promise to each one of those tamariki and their whānau and our communities, that partnership, equity, and respect will remain at the heart of everything we do at Playcentre.

It is a pledge to the countless generations of whānau that have called a Playcentre “our village”, and all those who will entrust us with their tamariki mokopuna for generations to come.

We acknowledge the decades of work by thousands of Playcentre people, who have embedded our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi throughout our organisation, from the sandpit to the Board table. Our two-house governance model is a powerful expression of this commitment.

A cornerstone of our governance practice, it ensures that Te Tiriti o Waitangi is integral to every decision as mandated by our Trust Deed, Rules, and Philosophy. We know equity, respect and Tiriti-based partnership are essential to delivering high quality education and best outcomes for all learners.

We stand united with kura, schools and other education providers in upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Water and sand play kept our little explorers actively involved in fun and learning. In the sandpit, they were busy building a big mountain, a volcano, and cakes. They loved watching the water and balls flow down the guttering and into the turf tray. One tamaiti got creative, adding sand to change the flow and see what would happen next. The younger ones were focused on pouring and squeezing water onto the water wheels and watching them spin.

Outside, they enjoyed playing with balls, swings, monkey bars, slides, jumping, and running back and forth on the mats, all with big smiles and endless energy!
Inside, they had fun with play dough, puzzles, and pretend play, from superhero to a pink worm. The magic of imagination, such a great way to learn and play! Love the sunshine and warm weather we are getting!
Currently Mondays and Wednesday are the quieter sessions and Tuesdays and Fridays are the very busy sessions!
