One more night to go to rally up all the support we can for the big reveal in Assembly tomorrow morning!

We're getting closer to reaching our goal of matching our BPOD funds raised of $20,000.

In Assembly tomorrow, we will look at the results, have one last Spot Prize Draw and then the Major Prizes for the Reading Log Draw. We will have fun looking at The Extreme reading photos that have been sent in.

If we get to our target, Mr Thorne has agreed to let the Winning House EACH apply a temporary tattoo to him at Morning Tea. This is the epitome of being a GOOD SPORT because removing over 100 angels and snakes and hearts might take most of the weekend! Let's hope he doesn't have an event!

Go hard on Social Media with your fundraising pages as this is an effective way to get a few extra dollars here or there.

Happy Reading,
Ali Logan

Thank you to all of our families who have helped get our Readathon Fundraiser up and running. The children are doing an amazing job doing some extra reading through the week and we are excited for the prizes we're giving away at next week's assembly.
I've also set a fundraising goal of $20k by the end of next week. This is a big ask and we are so grateful for all of the support we receive. If you would like to support and don't have a specific student page to do so, you can make a donation here... https://belmontreadathon.raiseit.co.nz/donate

Today the Year 6 Girls and invited extras played the staff at lunchtime. The girls won convincingly despite a few older people unable to stop quickly and taking them off their feet! Mr Thorne apologises profusely!

Have an awesome day, Mr Thorne. Loving the little things the kids value about you; running fast (?), watching the beyblade table, on the field at lunchtime, your support and kindness… all many qualities that not all Principals make a priority. Thank you from your BPS Whānau ❤️

Tomorrow we celebrate our fabulous Principal, Peter Thorne as part of the National Te Rā o Tumeke Tumuaki. You’ll see posters around the school about it. Be sure to pop in and acknowledge his work!

“Te Rā o Tumeke Tumuaki 2026
In 2022, NZEI Te Riu Roa launched Te Rā o Tumeke Tumuaki, an initiative which recognises
and celebrates the amazing contribution tumuaki | principals make to education.
This year the event will be celebrated on Wednesday 29 July.

Some key points:

• Te Rā o Tumeke Tumuaki is our chance to thank tumuaki | principals for the job they
do as the cornerstone of our education system

• The day is a chance to highlight the work that tumuaki | principals do for our schools,
tamariki and communities, which often goes unsung

• It’s a chance to recognise tumuaki | principals and their leadership

• It acknowledges that tumuaki | principals often prioritise the wellbeing of their
students, staff and community at the expense of their own

• Tumuaki | principals have an essential role within communities throughout Aotearoa
ensuring all aspects of schooling are taken care of so that all tamariki | rangatahi
benefit

• Te Rā o Tumeke Tumuaki shows we are committed to listening to tumuaki | principals
and standing beside them as they address the issues that need to be resolved to
enable our tamariki | rangatahi to thrive

• The day shows we are standing in solidarity with tumuaki | principals and are
committed to making their professional lives manageable and sustainable.”
