t only thousands of locals and tourist visitors each year, but is also home to some of the countries endangered bird species such as Takahe and Saddleback (Tieke). Motutapu Outdoor Education Camp is located in a bay in its own private valley on the coast of Motutapu Island. Visitors to the camp not only have access to the facilities within the 4 hectares of the camp property, but also have the luxury of being able to explore more than 3800 hectares of DoC managed scenic reserve over both Rangitoto and Motutapu Islands; both of which are covered in native flora and fauna and dotted with archaeological, geographical and environmental marvels. We offer a large range of both instructor lead and self supervised activities and will assist you to design an individual programme to suit all your aims and objectives. So whether you are a school group with intended learning objectives, a corporate looking to build your team's cohesiveness or a group of family or friends needing a relaxing break from the hectic city lifestyle; we can cater to your needs to ensure that your stay here with us is unforgettable.

We were treated as we came home from work on Friday. Skipper Chris from Auckland Sea Shuttles delayed our journey so we could enjoy dolphins playing. They put on a bit of a show. Great finish to a fantastic week.

Cute looks can be deceiving. This little banded rail has opportunistically entered staff homes and ablutions undetected. We now know it has actively been stealing triple milled Eco Store coconut flavoured soap in large quantities for some time. Now the ruse is up we are using high quality coconut oil as a lure to help it reintegrate away from the toilet block and back to nature to adopt a more healthy lifestyle.

Celebrating the remarkable contribution of the Motutapu Restoration Trust Nursery Manager Trevor who has retired from his post. His legacy will live on through the many plantings on the island a testimony to the work he has achieved across some 30 years. Trevor will be missed during daily life on Motutapu and we cannot thank you enough. The conservation work that Trevor achieved has benefited so many everyday visitors alongside New Zealands precious native species. It is difficult to quantify in this post the work that he has achieved.

Internship Applications now open for our 2027 season. If you are passionate about the outdoors and enjoy working with young people then this could be for you. We will support your training and development across a two year period setting you up well for a career in the outdoor education industry. This will include all course training costs, onsite accommodation including travel to and from Motutapu. In addition to this you are able to earn while you learn. Send the Operations Manager your application with a cover letter and a copy of your CV to [email protected] Please note that our internship programme is only open to New Zealand citizens and residents.
