At Living & Learning Henderson, with simple open‑ended materials, tamariki of all ages are exploring, sorting and solving little challenges together. Through moments like these, they’re building, confidence and communication skills, while sharing ideas, helping one another and discovering their capability.

Who knew fly swats could spark so much learning?

From painting to chasing balloons, tamariki have been exploring fly swats in creative ways. They are building hand-eye coordination, strengthening their muscles, developing balance, and body control. All wrapped up in joyful, messy, child‑led play.

Every day is full of small moments that grow big skills, at Living & Learning Henderson. In our outdoor spaces, tamariki explore natural treasures and practise crawling, climbing and balancing. This is joyful learning that builds confidence, coordination and problem-solving as they move through the world.

Our Teacher Excellence Awards are an annual event because we believe excellence deserves recognition. Recently, we had the privilege of celebrating some of our most respected Early Childhood Kaiako at Kindercare Learning Centres and Living & Learning Family Centres, for their consistently outstanding mahi. Our tamariki at Living and Learning Henderson gathered around water trays filled with leaves and bamboo boats, exploring textures, movement, and connection. As they dipped, splashed, and shared discoveries, they engaged their senses and built social bonds through gentle, collaborative play. These moments nurture fine motor skills, language, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Ko te taiao te kaiako; nature is the teacher, and today she invited wonder.

Planting ideas and nurturing creativity at Living & Learning Henderson. Children have been arranging flowers, exploring textures, and expressing themselves through nature play. Each moment is a quiet celebration of beauty, belonging and balance.

Preschoolers at Living & Learning Henderson have been experimenting with droppers, coloured liquids, and absorbent paper—watching in awe as vibrant hues spread, mix, and transform before their eyes.
