🏨🇳🇿 "Hospitality Industry එකේ සාර්ථක වෙන්න නම්... පොත් වලින් විතරක් ඉගෙනගන්න එක ප්රමාණවත්ද...?"
අද ගොඩක් studentsලා Hotel Management හෝ Hospitality Management ගැන හිතද්දී මුලින්ම බලන්නේ degree එක ගැන. Qualification එක ගැන. Graduation එක ගැන. හැබැයි ඇත්තටම Hospitality Industry එක කියන්නේ classroom එකක් ඇතුළේ විතරක් ඉගෙනගන්න පුළුවන් field එකක් නෙවෙයි. මොකද මේ industry එකේ වැදගත්ම දේ තමයි මිනිස්සු එක්ක වැඩ කරන එක. Real situations වල තීරන ගන්න එක. Customer expectations තේරුම් ගන්න එක. Team එකක් එක්ක professional විදියට වැඩ කරන එක. ඒ නිසාම theory වලට වඩා experience එකට ලොකු වටිනාකමක් තියෙනවා.
ඒකයි New Zealand වල PIHMS (Pacific International Hotel Management School) campus එක ගොඩක් විශේෂ වෙන්නේ. මොකද මෙතන studentsලා hospitality ගැන පොත් වලින් විතරක් ඉගෙනගන්නේ නැහැ. ඔවුන් industry එක ඇතුළේම ජීවත් වෙමින්, දවසින් දවස practical experience එකක් එක්ක grow වෙනවා. ඒක තමයි PIHMS campus එකේ තිබෙන ලොකුම වෙනස.
හිතන්නකෝ... Hospitality Industry එක ගැන class එකක ඉගෙනගන්න ගමන්, ඒ concepts real environment එකක අත්විඳින්නත් අවස්ථාව ලැබෙනවා නම්? Guest service කියන්නේ මොකක්ද කියලා පොතකින් කියවනවා වෙනුවට, professional hospitality environment එකක ඒක practically දකිනවා නම්? Leadership, communication, teamwork වගේ skills lecture එකකින් විතරක් නෙවෙයි, දෛනික ජීවිතයේදී develop කරගන්න පුළුවන් නම්? ඒ experience එක student කෙනෙක්ගේ future career එකට කොච්චර වටිනවාද කියලා හිතන්නකෝ.
අද employersලා degree certificate එකක් බලනවා වගේම, "මේ student ට real-world experience තියෙනවද?" කියන දේත් බලනවා. Industry එකට ගියාම ඉක්මනින් adapt වෙන්න පුළුවන්ද? Professional environment එකක confidently වැඩ කරන්න පුළුවන්ද? කියන දේවල් වැදගත් වෙනවා. ඒ නිසා graduation day එකේ qualification එකක් විතරක් නෙවෙයි, experience එකකුත් අතේ තියෙන එක student කෙනෙක්ට ලොකු වාසියක්.
PIHMS පිහිටලා තියෙන්නේ New Zealand වල ලස්සන coastal city එකක් වන New Plymouth වල. Study කරන අතරේ nature එකත් එක්ක balance වෙන student life එකක් ගත කරන්න පුළුවන්. City life එකත් තියෙනවා. ඒ වගේම නිස්කලංක පරිසරයක focus වෙලා ඉගෙනගන්නත් පුළුවන්. Weekend එකක් ආවම Mount Taranaki වගේ ලෝක ප්රසිද්ධ ස්වභාවික ස්ථාන බලන්න යන්න පුළුවන්. Coastal Walkway එක දිගේ ඇවිදින්න පුළුවන්. Beaches, parks, cafes එක්ක student life එක තවත් ලස්සන වෙනවා.
ගොඩක් studentsලා රට යන්නේ degree එකක් ගන්න විතරක් නෙවෙයි. තමන්ගේ skills develop කරගන්න. Confidence build කරගන්න. Industry එකට ready professional කෙනෙක් වෙන්න. ඒ ගමනේදී practical learning කියන්නේ classroom එකකින් ලබාගන්න බැරි වටිනා අත්දැකීමක්.
සමහර වෙලාවට ජීවිතේ වෙනස් කරන්නේ certificate එකක් නෙවෙයි...
ඒ certificate එකට අමතරව ලබාගත් experience එක.

ගොඩක් Sri Lankan studentsලා foreign education ගැන හිතන්නේ degree එකක්, job opportunities, migration pathway එකක් ගැන. හැබැයි New Zealand කියන්නේ qualification එකකට වඩා ගොඩක් ලොකු life experience එකක් ❤️
