We came across this little video and really loved the message behind it.

Yes, it’s an ad, but it’s also such a lovely reminder of everything parents do each day.

Juggling work, family life, routines, appointments, tired days and all the little things in between is a lot. And while we are busy helping our children grow, we are growing too.

Parenting teaches us patience, resilience, flexibility and how to keep showing up, even when life feels full.

At Koru Montessori, we see every day how much love and effort parents put into supporting their children, and we know that journey isn’t always easy.

So to all parents out there, you deserve some credit too. You are doing more than you probably realise, and everything you do for your family matters.

A lovely watch and a good reminder for all of us. ❤️

What a beautiful Open Day we had! 💚

We loved welcoming new families into our kura and sharing what makes our Koru whānau so special. It was wonderful to see tamariki exploring materials and getting to know our animal friends, parents asking questions, and everyone enjoying the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes Koru feel like home.

One of the highlights was seeing so many of our Koru whānau return to visit- even families whose children have already graduated. We were also delighted to welcome back previous Koru teachers who came to visit, which truly shows what a special and connected community we have. It means so much to know Koru continues to hold a special place in so many hearts, and seeing familiar faces again made the day extra special.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along, whether for the first time or to say hello again. We are so grateful you spent part of your weekend with us.

We feel incredibly blessed to be part of such a caring, connected community. Thank you for making our Open Day so memorable. We can’t wait to welcome more families into our Koru whānau. 💚

🍋 A child who is trusted becomes capable.

Today, one of our children prepared fresh lemonade to share with their peers using lemons from our garden, harvested earlier by the children.

This is the heart of Montessori. Real experiences. Real responsibility. Real contribution. When children are given meaningful work, they don't just learn a skill. They discover what they are capable of.

Every child enters the world with inherent dignity.

In Montessori, respect is not something a child earns through good behaviour, academic achievement, or reaching a certain age. It is the foundation upon which all meaningful education is built.

Respect is reflected in the way we speak to children, the time we give them to think, the trust we place in their capabilities, and the care we take to prepare environments that support their development. These seemingly small moments communicate a powerful message: You matter. Your ideas matter. Your work matters.

The respect children experience shapes how they see themselves, how they relate to others, and how they contribute to the world around them.

If we hope to build a more compassionate, peaceful society, we must begin by recognizing the dignity of every child.

As Dr. Maria Montessori reminded us, "The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind."

Happy Matariki! ✨

Here are a few snippets of how we celebrated Matariki together at Koru.

Matariki is a special time to pause and reflect, remembering and honouring our ancestors and those who came before us. It is also a time to celebrate the present with our whānau and community, while looking ahead with hope, gratitude, and aspirations for the year to come.

Through sharing stories, kai, music, and meaningful experiences, we embraced the values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and kotahitanga, strengthening the connections that make our Koru whānau so special.

Wishing everyone a joyful Matariki. May this Māori New Year bring peace, good health, new opportunities, and hope for the future. Mānawatia a Matariki! 🌌

To our beautiful Koru whānau

Over the years, so many of the families who have joined Koru have come to us because a friend, neighbour, colleague, or family member shared their experience. There is no greater compliment than recommending us to someone you care about.
If Koru has been a special part of your child's journey, we would be so grateful if you could share our flyer or tag someone who may be looking for a preschool where children are truly known, nurtured, and encouraged to flourish.

We know choosing an early learning centre is one of the biggest decisions a family can make, and we are honoured by the trust our families place in us. Since 2006, it has been our privilege to walk alongside children and their whānau, celebrating milestones, building confidence, and fostering a lifelong love of learning.
We currently have spaces available and would love to welcome new families into our Koru whānau.

As a special thank you, the first 5 new enrolments will receive a $500 credit towards their fees.*

Thank you for your ongoing support, kindness, and for helping our Koru community continue to grow. It truly means the world to us.

Ngā mihi nui,
The Koru Montessori Team 💚
