Our mission is to develop, promote and deliver accessible, quality literacy services designed to ens
"Transforming lives through literacy!"
We work with adults (16+ who are not in full time learning) who are NZ citizens or Residents. Our service is free to learners meet the rules for our funding. Our learner-centered tuition is based on the goals of each learner, not a fixed course, and is one-to-one or in small groups. Students can start at any time if there is a tutor or group place that suits them.

The Festival of Adult Learning Ahurei Ākonga is held in the first week of September every year to coincide with International Literacy Day (8th September). Last year our learners made a Literacy Tree, covered with their comments on what Literacy means to them, and what they like about coming here.

A learner in the Digital Skills for Life course works her way through the manual for her Chromebook. This 7-week course which runs once a term is very popular, as learners can keep the Chromebook and manual on completion of their hours.

Tutors farewell their colleague Terrene in 2017. Terrene came to us as a learner in 2009 because she wanted to help her kids when they started school. Many years later, she completed the Level 5 National Certificate of Adult Literacy and Numeracy Educator (NCALNE) and gave learners the benefit of her personal experience, and her colleagues valuable lessons in what works for adult literacy learners.
