Kamuthi Solar Power Project (India)
The world's largest solar project
It is a solar photovoltaic power generating station at Kamuthi, 90 km from Madurai, in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. This project is generating of 648 MW at a single location and it is the world's largest single location solar project. Panels occupy 1270 acres of land. 30,000 tonnes of galvanised steel were used. About 8500 personnel worked on average installing about 11 MW in a day to set up the plant in stipulated time. Given the solar resource of around 5.5 kWh/m2,day an annual generation of 1.3 TWh/yr may be possible.

It hosts events on a main pitch sprawling across over 22,500 m² (242,200 ft²). Its total floor space is over 207,000 m² (2.2 million ft²) across eight stories, and the lobes of its roof peak at more than 60 m (197 ft) from the ground.
