Tuesday evenings beginners sewing class is on this week at Te Whare Awhina , Manurewa. 5.30pm to 8pm, $10 per school term, and a donation each class to help with class costs

This week I was honored to be firstly nominated , for my mahi as a teacher ( by my awesome mentor Ron Tekawa ) and backed by the amazing Jaylene B at Te Whare Awhina , Tamworth Community Centre, Manurewa ,
at the ACE Aotearoa Awards, ....
And I won Tangata Whenua, Adult Teacher of the Year !!🎉🎊💃🏾🥳.

Friday mornings free beginners sewing class at Rawiri Community House was a full house today, pot holders, aprons and oven mitts were the mission, and (with different levels of success 😅) it was mission accomplished 👏🏾.
As well as a few pencil cases, and a make up bag 😅👍🏾.

Thursday evening's sewing class at Sustainable Papakura , everyone was in their zone, back pack bags were made, those that completed their first bag, awhi'ing each other , once they had learnt with each step. With heaps of gentle jibeing mixed in 😅👍🏾, great work everyone 👏🏾

This Thursday mornings free sewing class at Māngere East Library was a bit quieter than usual, but even on its quiet days, there is still so much happening ! .
Everyone was focused on the project at hand 👋🏾, one of which was oven mitts, aprons and pot holders . For those that gave personal projects going on, it was business as usual, tops, culottes, dresses , skirts and pants were being sewn .
I love how it's showing whanaungatanga working at its best, all ages, different cultures, but everyone is helping each other, to achieve greatness in their sewing 👏🏾
