🌟 Pūkeko Room Gymnastics Adventure! 🌟

Today, our Pūkeko Room Tamariki enjoyed an exciting visit to the Allan Brewster Leisure Centre for their third gymnastics session of 2026. The children had been eagerly anticipating this special outing and were thrilled to take part in a variety of engaging physical activities.

The session began with athletics-based challenges, where Tamariki practiced their skills in long jump, toy javelin throwing, target throwing activities and kids discuss throw. They then moved on to a range of gymnastics and movement experiences, including climbing ladders, jumping from different heights, balancing, and exploring obstacle-style challenges.

Throughout the day, the children demonstrated enthusiasm, determination, and courage as they challenged themselves and encouraged one another. These experiences helped strengthen their gross motor skills, coordination, balance, confidence, and teamwork while promoting active and healthy lifestyles.

A big thank you to Paks and the Auckland Council team for providing such a positive and supportive learning environment. After an action-packed morning, the Tamariki enjoyed lunch together before safely returning to Little Feet Childcare Centre.

We are so proud of our tamariki for their participation, resilience, and willingness to try new challenges. What a wonderful day of learning, movement, and fun! 😊

🌟 Pūkeko Room Tamariki Visit Mangere East Primary School 🌟

Our Pūkeko Room tamariki recently visited Māngere East Primary School as part of our Transition-to-School Programme.

Welcomed warmly by Whaea Peram, tamariki enjoyed a range of literacy activities including story time, word games, sentence building, and letter tracing. These experiences supported early reading, writing, communication, and fine motor development.

Children also had fun building with Lego, sharing a healthy snack, and exploring the classroom and outdoor learning spaces. These activities encouraged teamwork, creativity, confidence, and social skills while helping tamariki become familiar with the school environment.

We are incredibly proud of how respectful, organised, and engaged our tamariki were throughout the visit. It was a wonderful opportunity to build confidence and strengthen connections as they prepare for their school journey. 💙

🌺 Samoan Language Week in Pukeko Room 🌺

This week, the tamariki in Pukeko Room enthusiastically took part in a variety of activities to celebrate Samoan Language Week and learn more about Samoan culture and traditions.

Throughout the week, the children created and coloured the Samoan flag while learning about its meaning and significance. They also explored the art and cultural importance of traditional Samoan tattoos (tatau), engaging in discussions about the stories and identity they represent.

Our creative learners worked together to make a beautiful collage of a traditional Samoan fale (house), and enjoyed making colourful flower prints on fabric inspired by the vibrant patterns often seen in Pacific cultures.

Music and language learning went hand in hand as the children practised Samoan counting through songs, building their confidence with new words and phrases in a fun and engaging way.

We also explored traditional Samoan foods and were excited to make and taste Vai’fala, a delicious Samoan pineapple drink made with crushed pineapple and condensed milk. This hands-on experience sparked great conversations about food, family, and celebrations in Samoa.

To conclude our celebrations, the tamariki proudly participated in the action song “Le Aute,” enjoying the movements, rhythm, and cultural connection that the song brings.

It has been a wonderful week filled with learning, creativity, and cultural appreciation. We are proud of the curiosity and enthusiasm our tamariki showed as they explored and celebrated Samoan language and culture.

During the Week, tamariki explored Samoan language, culture, and traditions through art, music, food, and collaborative activities. These experiences supported Mana Reo as children learned Samoan counting and songs, Mana Aotūroa through exploring cultural symbols, traditions, and food, Mana Tangata through working together on creative projects, and Mana Whenua by developing respect for and appreciation of cultural diversity. The week's activities also fostered confidence, participation, and wellbeing, aligning with the aspirations of Te Whāriki for children to become competent, confident, and connected learners.Ravniel Prasad Selvin N Shaileshni Arti Vandana Pranil Kumar Singh Kamal N Mamta Gounder

Today our Pukeko Room tamariki enjoyed their second gymnastics session! 🤸‍♀️🤸‍♂️
The children enthusiastically explored a range of movements, including balancing, climbing, jumping, and rolling, while building their confidence and physical skills in a fun and supportive environment. It was wonderful to see their determination, resilience, and willingness to challenge themselves as they practised new movements and celebrated their achievements.
These experiences align with Te Whāriki, particularly the strand of Exploration | Mana Aotūroa, where children develop working theories, confidence in their bodies, and an understanding of how to navigate and interact with their environment. Through gymnastics, tamariki are strengthening their gross motor skills, coordination, spatial awareness, and self-confidence while learning alongside their peers.
We look forward to seeing their skills continue to grow throughout the programme! 🌟
