Auckland International College to close in 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce that Auckland International College (AIC) will be closing in June 2023 as a result of ongoing uncertainty posed by New Zealand’s COVID-19 pandemic response.

The impact of travel restrictions and ongoing lockdown measures, has seen the current roll fall to 136 students across Years 11 to 13. And, the school’s future ability to continue to attract students has been severely impacted.

The school will remain open until June 2023 to enable current Year 12 and 13 students to complete the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

New Zealand’s only school exclusively dedicated to providing the IBDP, AIC was founded in 2003 for international and domestic students and has enjoyed unparalleled academic success.

We are very excited to announce that 12 of our Year 11 and 12 AIC students participated in the New Zealand Economics Competition last term, which hosted 1500 students from all over the country. Of our 12 students, six AIC students earned high distinction (top 10%) and six AIC students earned distinction (top 15%). In addition, 12 students also received credit and were in the top 25%.

The New Zealand Economics Competition is a prestigious event that showcases the exceptional talent that New Zealand secondary students have in economics. The competition tests students' knowledge of economic theory and current economic issues.

This is a great achievement for the students and the school to receive such fantastic results again this year.

Congratulations to all participants and their teachers.
