What a wonderfully messy week at Cockle Bay Playcentre! 🎨🥳

Our tamariki had an amazing time during Playcentre’s Messy Play Week. There were slimy hands, colourful mixtures everywhere, and clothes proudly covered in paint and goo! The children were deeply focused on their play, exploring, mixing, squeezing, and creating while filling the centre with lots of laughter.

Messy play is not just fun. It helps build creativity, curiosity, fine motor skills, and sensory exploration, while encouraging children to experiment and learn through hands on discovery.

Our tamariki have had another wonderful year of playing, learning, and growing together, and what better way to end it than with a joyful Christmas Party at Playcentre! 🎉

Everyone dressed in festive colours and Christmas costumes, enjoyed a yummy festive feast, and laughed through fun mini games. 🎅🎁 A highlight of the day was opening their book gifts! Our tamariki were so excited and couldn’t wait to start reading! 📚 We also captured a special group photo to remember the day. Of course, water play and sand play were always their big favourites! 💦🏖️

🎃👻 Last Friday, our tamariki and whānau came together for a spooktacular Halloween Party filled with laughter, creativity, and fun! 🧡✨

There were cute crafts, exciting games, and amazing costumes! We also enjoyed a delicious shared party feast. What a wonderful way to celebrate together and make magical memories!

☀️ Term 4 is off to a fun and delicious start at Cockle Bay Playcentre! Over the past two weeks, our tamariki have been having a wonderful time, and today we continued the fun by making yummy crepes! 🥞✨ They were fully engaged in chopping fruits, cracking eggs, and mixing flour and milk to make the crepe batter.

Once the crepes were ready, our little chefs got creative decorating them with fresh fruits, honey, and peanut butter. 🍓🍯 The best part? Enjoying every bite of their own tasty creations! 😋💛

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, daddies, papas, poppas, and father figures in our community! We’re so lucky to have you and celebrate the special role you play in our tamariki’s lives.

🚀✨ Last Thursday, our tamariki blasted off on an exciting adventure at Stardome! They kicked off the day with a rocket launch powered by air pressure, counting down together with so much excitement. They also explored the universe in the planetarium, seeing the moon, the sun, and the stars up close, and watching how day turns into night. 🌙☀️⭐

The mysterious space images amazed them and the hands-on exhibits were a big hit! 🌍 From comparing the gravity of the moon, Earth, and the sun to getting a little sense of Earth’s rotation around the solar system, our tamariki truly experienced the wonder of space. 🌌✨

🌟 Mānawatia a Matariki! 🌟
Our tamariki and their whānau came together to celebrate Matariki, the Māori New Year, at Cockle Bay Playcentre today. We shared delicious kai, gathered around a cozy bonfire to toast marshmallows 🔥, listened to beautiful Matariki music 🎶, and got creative making lanterns. Later, we headed out on a magical adventure walk to the nearby reserve, connecting with nature and each other. 🌿 What a special day of reflection, connection, and celebration. Mānawatia a Matariki! 💫

🎨 Our little artists got creative with some colourful drip painting fun last Friday! 🌈🖌️
We hung paint bottles under the ladder, and tamariki squeezed and pushed them to let the paint drip down onto the paper below. Watching the colours mix and swirl was so satisfying and the results were absolutely beautiful! 💧🎨

🎉 What a fantastic way to wrap up Term 1, 2025!

Our tamariki had an absolute blast baking cookies—adding flour and cheese, carefully cutting butter, shaping the dough into cute creations, and decorating with chocolate chips and raisins. 🍪✨

But the fun didn’t stop there! 🎻 They explored the sounds of the violin, got hands-on with an exciting volcano experiment 🌋, and let their creativity shine with clay play.

A day full of laughter, learning, and unforgettable moments! 💛 Looking forward to more adventures next term!
