✍️ Student Writing Showcase – Television Interview
What happens when a chess grandmaster decides to teach a penguin how to play chess? 🐧♟️
In our recent English writing lesson, students explored the structure and features of a television interview, learning how an interview moves naturally from an introduction through a series of questions and answers to a conclusion.
They were then asked to create their own television interview as a writing task.
Ben took the idea in a wonderfully imaginative direction, creating a humorous interview with chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen about how he taught his penguin, Bobby, to play chess!
We especially enjoyed Ben’s creativity, his playful sense of humour, and the way he developed the interview through lively questions and answers.
Well done, Ben!
We hope you enjoy reading his creative interview. 🌟

💪 Student Writing Spotlight 💪
Today, we are excited to share a narrative writing piece by Tiffany, one of our English students.
As part of a creative writing task, students were asked to write a narrative based on the saying "Never judge a book by its cover" — a reminder that appearances do not always tell the full story.
In her story, Tiffany introduces us to Jeff, a gym-goer who appears small and unremarkable compared with his muscular friend, Mark. However, when an unexpected challenge arises, the story takes a dramatic turn and leaves everyone with an important lesson about assumptions and first impressions.
We were particularly impressed by Tiffany’s ability to create suspense, build anticipation, and deliver a memorable twist ending. Her story demonstrates how effective narrative writing can engage readers while communicating a meaningful message.
We hope you enjoy reading Tiffany’s story!
Well done, Tiffany! 👏

📖 Student Writing Spotlight 📖
We are delighted to share a narrative writing piece by Matthew, one of our English students.
As part of a creative writing task, students were challenged to write a narrative based on the saying "Never judge a book by its cover" — a reminder that a person's true character cannot be determined by appearance alone.
In his story, Matthew introduces readers to Jayden, a boy who faces judgement because of scars on his face. Through a series of dramatic events, the story explores friendship, kindness, courage, and the importance of looking beyond first impressions. The narrative builds tension effectively and delivers a meaningful message that stays with the reader long after the story ends.
We were particularly impressed by Matthew’s ability to create engaging characters, develop conflict, and communicate an important life lesson through storytelling.
We hope you enjoy reading Matthew’s story!
Well done, Matthew! 👏

✈️ Student Writing Spotlight ✈️
We are pleased to share a narrative writing piece by Shane in one of our English classes.
As part of a creative writing task, students were asked to write a narrative based on the saying "Every cloud has a silver lining" — the idea that something positive can emerge from an unfortunate situation.
In his story, Shane creates a fast-paced and suspenseful sequence of events as the main character races to catch a flight. Just when it seems everything has gone wrong, the story takes an unexpected turn that perfectly captures the meaning of the saying.
We were particularly impressed by Shane’s ability to build tension, describe the character’s emotions, and keep the reader engaged right through to the final paragraph.
We hope you enjoy reading his story as much as we did. See if you can predict the ending before you get there!
Well done, Shane! 👏
