Young New Zealand Chinese Waitangi Trip 2024
REGISTRATIONS CLOSE FRIDAY 8TH DECEMBER.

🚎

✅ Are you aged 35 and under?
✅ Are you interested in your identity as both Chinese & a New Zealander?
✅ Have you ever wondered what Te Tiriti o Waitangi means for you?
✅ Do you want to connect with your own ‘tribe’?

The NZCA is offering young Chinese New Zealanders an opportunity to travel to Hokianga and Waitangi to strengthen our identity and connection within Aotearoa New Zealand.

This subsidised, four-day cultural journey is over Waitangi Weekend (Friday 3 - Tuesday 6 February 2024) & focuses on:

🌳 Celebrating our shared heritage & culture as Chinese New Zealanders
📝 Understanding what Te Tiriti means for us
🤝 Connecting with tangata whenua

This trip will include returning a carved pou whenua, ‘Pāruru’, gifted by the leaders in Hokianga who cared for Chinese ancestral bones after the 1902 sinking of the SS Ventnor. The pou symbolises Aotearoa as a ‘place of shelter’ for Chinese, past and present.

We will also attend Waitangi Day commemorations under the guidance of Former NZCA President, Meng Foon.

👋 Register your interest before December 8th! Spaces for this one-of-a-kind Waitangi Weekend experience are limited. To secure your spot on this unforgettable journey of cultural discovery, visit: www.paruru.nz
