ANZAC Day Commemoration Morning Tea
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in this year's Northcote ANZAC Day commemorations. Your presence and involvement, from the youngest to the oldest members of our local and wider community, were deeply appreciated. Coming together with the shared intention of honouring our soldiers ensures that their sacrifices are remembered and never forgotten.
Thank you, Kaipātiki Community Facilities Trust (KCFT), for the opportunity to support the ANZAC day commemoration morning tea at Northcote Point. It was an honour to be part of this special occasion, and it was especially rewarding as our efforts also contributed to fundraising for our children’s nature trail project. In the spirit of community collaboration, we were pleased to have Woolworths Northcote join us in supporting the event.
To ensure that everyone felt included in the morning tea, we extended the beverage selection beyond just tea and coffee, also providing juice. This decision was made with younger attendees in mind, allowing them to fully enjoy the event alongside the adults. Given the warm weather on the day, juice quickly became the most popular choice. It was heartening to see many children joining the elder generations in the hall for morning tea, creating a vibrant and intergenerational atmosphere.
The Northcote Point Community Crèche teachers and children contributed to the commemoration by creating meaningful displays of poppies. These displays were designed to honour the fallen soldiers listed on the Northcote honour roll and served as a focal point during the hall morning tea, adding significance and interest to the occasion.
Thank you to the home bakers of the NPCC community who baked the most delicious ANZAC biscuit and to ACC for providing extra ANZAC biscuits to share with the parade attendees.
