We are proud to be celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori this week, and today we enjoyed a wonderful student-designed assembly, led by our Manukura Wāhine, Nia-Jaye and Lelei.

After our opening waiata and karakia, we focussed on correct pronunciation and there were plenty of opportunities for everyone to join in and give te reo a go through speaking or singing! Our kapa haka rōpū shared one of their waiata reminding us of their success this year. Head Girl - Student Body, Te Au Aio spoke about her recent Native Nations - Tracing Indigenous Footsteps exchange and some of the learning she brought home with her.

Our assembly today was a lovely opportunity to celebrate te reo Māori together and to reflect on the the part we can all play in keeping te reo heard, spoken and thriving.

Kia kaha te reo Māori!

It is Social Justice Week at the College, and our students have been reflecting on various issues and how we are called to respond with compassion, courage and service.

Yesterday, each year level wore a different coloured ribbon to raise awareness of a particular issue and throughout the week there is a variety of activities encouraging discussion and reflection:

💗 Year 7 – Exclusion
❤️ Year 8 – Racism
💙 Year 9 – Climate Change
💛 Year 10 – Poverty
💚 Year 11 – Mental Health
💜 Year 12 – Domestic Abuse
🤍 Year 13 – Gender Inequality

With Āwhinatanga | Service as our College value for 2026, Social Justice Week reminds us that our faith calls us not only to notice injustice, but to stand alongside others and take action in ways that uphold the dignity of every person.

A fabulous win for Victoria!
