Proud parents here: Kidscan is holding a special event this week, and our daughter Sophie is participating (plus, she works for Kidscan!) She knows first hand how events like this make a huge difference in the number of schools, and children, Kidscan is able to support. Check out the website for what donations can achieve for kiwi children :-)

Q: How do we teach writing, and inspire children to write?
A: By any means possible! We're always looking to find fun reasons to write, and we use all kinds of writing prompts! Here's a fun plot idea page from our 'mixed up fairy tales' book.
Our wonderful team of teachers also covers:
All literacy - reading, spelling, proofreading, vocabulary building, NCEA English essay writing and text/poem analysis
Maths - from beginning concepts all the way up to NCEA
Science - chemistry and biology

This popped up recently on fb and perfectly sums up how we work to support our students. In architecture, 'Universal Design' aims to make buildings accessible for all - and in education, 'Universal Design for Learning' makes learning accessible for all. A great example is the Structured Literacy approach, which adds manageable rungs (including plenty of phonemic instruction in a logical order) to the 'ladder of learning to read'. An even better visual example might be a ramp! 😊.
