The inaccuracy of the heel prick test undermines the care of newborns, says Professor Jane Harding. False positive readings result in unnecessary treatment, while false negatives mean some babies don't get the treatment they need. WELCOME to our new hPOD families! April is proving quite the month of milestones. Pat, Kerry and Anu at Women's and Children's Hospital, Adelaide welcomed their 200th baby, and Alana, Deb and Rachel at Waikato Hospital welcomed their 250th baby to the study today. WELL DONE everyone, thank you.

How exciting! We welcomed the 1,065 baby to the hPOD Study this morning. We are halfway there!

Congratulations Jodi, Jacinta, Jess and all at Mackay Base Hospital, Queensland who welcomed their first hPOD baby this afternoon!

1,004! 1,004 babies across NZ and AU have now taken part in the hPOD main study.
