Welcome to the Official IBM New Zealand page. Managed by Shannon Thomas & Caroline Morris. Follows IBM Social Guidelines. The way the world works is changing.
Our world is getting a whole lot smarter and together we can create solutions to some of the challenges the world face; Physicians can use cognitive system, Watson, to assist in diagnosing and treating patients; software and smarter analytics provide citywide traffic management to help ease congestion problems; Smart grids allow households and businesses to monitor electricity consumption and impr
ove efficiency; and learning in schools can be enhanced and shared through round-the-world, cloud-based connectivity. Keep up to date with what IBM is doing here in NZ and join the discussion about IBM's vision to become a Smarter Planet. Why get smarter? Because we can: There are 1 billion transistors for every person. Cloud computing can provision resources. 1 Trillion things are already connected to the web. The technology is now both available and affordable. Because we must: Energy is lost due to inefficiencies. Cars burn litres of petrol just looking for parking. Weather inflicts millions of dollars of damage. Electronic health records could save lives. The shocks we've seen to so many systems show that the current approaches aren't sustainable. Because we want to: IBM is starting a conversation with the world because we think now is the time to make these changes for the better. http://www.ibm.com/smarterplanet/nz/en/
