Last week we celebrated another amazing year of the Women’s Mentoring Programme at the University of Auckland Business School! This year we had 77 of our women business students each paired with a woman working in business for a 6-month mentoring programme running from March to October with monthly events alongside one-to-one meetings. You can just imagine the wonderful long-lasting relationships that come out of this initiative!
We were delighted to have Property Council New Zealand Chief Executive Leonie Freeman, as guest speaker at our final celebration event, and her words were truly inspiring!
As we wrap up our 15th year, we can proudly say that we have seen 1,079 mentees and 625 mentors come through our programme since its inception in 2011! Bring on 2026! A huge thank you to all the incredible mentors who have supported us with this programme through the years – what a wonderful network of women we have grown into!
And enormous thanks goes to Business School Executive-in-Residence, Cecilia Tarrant, for leading this programme for the last 15 years! It has been a wonderful year getting to know another cohort of mentees and mentors, and we look forward to remaining connected!
Applications are now open for the 2026 programme, so if you’re a woman working in business and are keen to share your experience with our women business students, do sign up to be a mentor. And if you’re one of our women business students – don’t miss this amazing development opportunity. Applications close 30 November 2025.
